I have not done any new work towards volt modding either card. It might be something I will explore in the near future, but it will be much more challenging than changing clock settings if it is bios controlled.
.
Because you were one of the major contributors of the xps2 bios mod, I thought you have a xps2 yourself and the info you provided regarding the Nibitor voltage mods was for the xps2. Do you know where I can download the 6800uGo bios? What are your thoughts on using them on the xps2 w/ volt mods? Are the volt values are in the same locations using hex edit we can mod the xps2 bios at the same location, for both 2d and 3d volts?

Any ideas about my prev post re: fsb=100 @90W AC and how to softmod fsb?

Again, much thanks.

Even if you did volt mod the 6800 ultra it wont help because the system locks up within seconds when you just auto OC 545/1060. I had to hold my XPS up to a 20" outdoor fan that was blowing 68 degree air just to keep it from locking up. Highest temps I saw was 66c at that time. I mean the card gets up to about 80c-85c on stock clocks and once the card hits 95c it downclocks... volt modding would be basically useless since we can't cool the 6800 very well.

I have no idea how to softmod the fsb. As for the volt mod, using the 6800 go from a 9300 as a map won't work for 2 reaons:

1. The likelyhood of the two being located in the same spot is very very slim.
2. I don't know where the voltage settings are for the non-ultra either!

If I were a betting man, I'd bet that the voltage settings were all shorts (data type, same as clock settings) and that they were all next to each other. Unfortunately, I don't know what would represent the voltages since they are decimals and you can't have decimals in a short, so I don't know what to search for. Ugh!

I am also exploring modding to max batt and lower gpu/system temp (increasing lifespan) when not necessary/gaming... such as reducing 2d /3d volts. Thanks.

IMO I wouldn't mess with the voltages on the card. Is it really worth ruining it to get a couple MHz or 20 minutes more of battery life? I mean do you want to keep flashing bios all the time?

I got myself an X300 64Mb for $45 shipped. It ups my battery time to 4+hrs and takes about 20 minutes to install. If you are looking for battery time, I recommend getting an X300.

Thank you

Thanks for this softmod guys, I'm running on 6800U stock speeds.I appreciate the effort that was put into this.

What are you specs? What driver did you use?

2.13ghz 80.40 driver with stock 2 x 512 ram. 2 gigs of Corsair came in today, going to benchmark again (single and dual) .Btw,how did you get your ram timings so low in your sig

I have OCZ ram. Stock their timings are 4-4-4-8, but it runs at 4-4-4-12 cause of dells bios.

Thanks a ton, guys! Just jacked it up to 500/1300 and smashed my old 3dmark05 record with 6029!!!

I will play HL2 for a couple hours and report back on stability...

Hi Shoman, or any1 else, could you give us the (dis)charge battery rate in Centrino Hardware Control? My xps2 lowest is -25.5W. Again, much thanks.

BF2 runs but crashes randomly at 500/1200

475/1100 seems very stable for BF2
Okay, just played HL2 for 1.5 hours without a hiccup at 1920x1200 with 2x/16x enabled...always over 30FPS w/graphics card temp at 65C according to I8KFangui...woohoo!

500/1300 OC seems quite good...
I've never been much of an OC'er but I might have to give this a try. Great work on this guys.
Yeah, good work! It's been real interesting watching these two threads develop..

Been running 500/1300 without any problems...

Why are some people able to run at 525 core speed with no probs but others crash at 512 or even 500? Is it their cooling (could I apply AS and up from 500 to 525?) or are all chips not created equal (I know there are some differences but a +/- 25 core speed seems like a big diff)?

All chips are not created equal. If they were, there'd be no such thing as overclocking.
With proper cooling you can auto OC on the core to 545. It's stable (to go through 3DMark05) if you can cool the bottom of the PC well. Wonder what the lappy would score at 545/1300.....
So, if my current GPU with stock cooling and all that can run stabile at 500/1300, if I applied arctic silver or something I would be able to up that? So basically, it's a temperature issue keeping me from going up to 512 or 525?
