6800 Ultra Bios Flash Directions - Page 8

I got a single crash at 525/1300 after an hour or so of CS. So I gradually reduced the speeds and kept crashing after a few hours.. How I am back to the Original Bios and still get a crash after a few hours.. hmmm
post #142 of 196
I'm using the 525/1300 bios atm, and having no problems thus far in any 3d application (crosses fingers). Then again, I have a second card as backup if anything happens, too.

NiBitor 2.3 now supports our bios. NO need to use what is on the CD anymore, you can make your own.
Cool. So, where or how can I get/dump a BIOS to edit for a 6800 Go non-Ultra?

edit: I downloaded a 6800 Go BIOS from MVKTech and it seems voltage still is not adjustable!
When using NiBitor 2.3, do I just change the values listed beside 3d ?? or am I suppose to change all of them?
i just changed the 3d values.
Should you use the original 6800Go Ultra bios ripped your own machine?
what are the rest of the values for if I may ask
post #149 of 196
Just mess with the 3D values.

Increasing the voltage on the 6800go will not make it as fast or faster then the 6800go ultra, both cards are built on a different manuf. process.

nope. you are in error. You have a 110nm NV42 and so do most 9300 owners (some have NV41M). Biggest difference is the RAM used.

Have you tried increasing the voltage in 3D to get closer to ultra speeds?

Hi guys, I've been following a number of 6800Ultra OC'ing/flashing threads (including this one) and I get more information every time, but never all the required facts in a single clear post. So please endulge me and just affirm or deny my following statement:

Meaning I can rip my own XPS Gen2 6800Ultra bios with nVflash, change the clockspeeds with NiBitor and flash it back again with nVflash, presto.

I'm also not clear if I can adjust the voltages safely on the XPS Gen 2 6800Ultra bios with NiBitor as well.
One thread says 'NONONO! do it and you'll kill it!' while in this thread right here I get the idea people tried it and it worked for them (we're still talking XPS Gen 2 here, don't want to risk someone adding his $0.02 thinking it's about a 9300).

Could anyone with knowledge and experience shed some light on these subjects?

Heat and A03 BIOS

Hello all. I have been messing with this BIOS overclocking stuff, and I actually was able to run 3DMark05 Pro through running 525/1300, and ended up with a score of 6055, which seems a bit low for so much overclock BTW. But the point is, it obviously runs too hot to game for very long, as playing NFS Underground 2 showed when my comp did a hard reboot in about 10 minutes.

I tried throttling it down, and now that I have it set at 500/1200, it will work fine, up to a point. When playing NFS:UG2, after a pretty short time, I will ALT-TAB into the already open "Temperature Settings" in the NVidia control panel, and it shows usually between 84-92 degrees!!! Also, I noticed that the game would slow down quite a bit too, but I don't get the "too hot" popup or whatever, and I can't change the "Core Slowdown Threshold".

I also noticed a post earlier about the new A03 BIOS reporting higher temps and not turning on the fan until later, could this be it? I really don't want to have to go down to stock again >( Any ideas?

Thanks!

JB

Update

Actually, NFS:UG2 just hard rebooted on me at 500/1200... This is really pissing me off! I just changed it down to 475/1150, and it doesn't seem to be too much cooler... DAMMIT! Looks like I will have to get some of that therman grease and do a little tinkering... Where does everyone buy that stuff at anyways? -JB

Shnike,

You may have a rebooter...

Rebooter?

What does that mean? That I "have a rebooter"???
My PC rebooted when it was stock...before is started flashing. Had to get a replacement card sent to me. The new card doesn't reboot and i'm afraid to flash it....
I don't think it is that. I didn't have that problem of rebooting when stock. I think my card may be seated poorly or something. I probably just need to get some thermal goo and re-seat it correctly.

Do you have cs source? If so play the map cd_assault, that map seems to cause reboots really fast. I got reboots within seconds @ stock on that map with my old card.
