Yes, I have CS:Source, but I don't play it except when I am at my friend's house, because he has cable, and I am still on dial-up >( Damn cable and phone companies... Give access to someone who is 1 minute away but not offer it to me...

here's the modded sager bios i got from shoman. i've highlight the differences in the bios. i'm most concerned about the timings and voltage settings. the timings can be changed, but not the voltage settings. the file size and checksums are also different. i've got an extra xps2 that's going back to the factory (see http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=93659)

but with as significant differences as these, i don't know if it'd worth unpacking the system. please advise.

I didn't realize the sagers had a lower voltage..

probably coz the p4's take up so much

@ShnikeJSB : So I take it you didn't use *any* Arctic Silver or other Thermal grease?
Does anybody else have temps when OC'd?

I know that my 8600 ran 35 degrees celsius cooler after I modded it, if yours is stick using the gum, that might be your cause right there.

As5

Nope, I have absolutely no difference from stock, including the thermal grease. So, I am ordering up some and throwing in onto the GPU, and while I am in there, onto the CPU. Once I do this, I will let everyone know what happens then. Thanks -JB

I Guess the BIG QUESTION would be ......Do they get reboots???
I've been running 500x1300 for some time now and can hear distinct noise whenever the card is working hard in 3D. Am I alone in this? I haven't done this AS5 mod, do I really have no choice but go ahead and do it?

thanks

Is there a way to get this flash thing to work on a usb flash drive?
If your system is able to boot off a USB drive, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
i just want to say thanks to everyone that brought this flash utility to us, you guys ****in rock!!

i have a couple of questions: can i flash as many times as i want? when i try to bench with 3dmark05 it locks up everytime. however when i game i so absolutely no artifacts. should i back off my clock settings some? i used 525 1200.

thanks again!
I would recommend going lower... or get additional cooling.
Anyone has a comment on the noise question I posted 3 posts above?

Many thanks,
Alex

I would love to get it to work on my USB stick, but I haven't a clue how to get that done. Many tutorials on the net for various systems on a stick all lead to nothing.
I can mod the hell out of any system, but this USB crap is killing me.

Anybody wanna help?

Also: is it true that because of the friggin lock the 6800u also won't downclock to 2D settings speeds? Rivatuner tells me it's at 525/1300 ALL the time.

Edit: Solved, my USB was non-bootable, got me another one.

XPS Gen2

So, I just installed 80.40 and OC'd my 8600 ultra 500/1300. I just did a 3dMark05 and got 5927. Definately great stuff you guys are doing here. Just wondering if you have any tips to get me past 6000??

XPS Gen2, 2gb Crucial, 80gb 7200rpm, 8600 go ultra....

Set the driver to high performance.

Performance

Ok, so I assume this entails making all the performance settings performance instead of quality, so I have done this to the best of my ability. I also went ahead and put the computer in a cool place and shut down all extrenuous programs and services. Then, I ran 3DMark05 again and ended up getting a lower score than before (5641) ...

I'm really at a loss, I mean I ran the same test 3 times last night and got right around 59**, now I'm doing worse. What's the deal? I am getting this wierd thing at startup, some kinda error about nvsrv32 having to close or something. Does this have anything to do with it or is this unrelated?

Any help is greatly appriciated. Thnaks.

XPS Gen2 P-M 2.13Ghz 533Mhz FSB with 2Gb Crucial DDR2, 80Gb 7200rpm, GeForce 6800 Go Ultra OC'd to 501/1305, Win XP Home, 1900x1200 (running 3dMark05 at 1024x768), Forceware 80.40 drivers pieter's inf., running at 55-65c (idle - test).

6K, finally!!!

YEEEEHAAAAA!!! On a whim, I just tried the 77.70 driver for my 8600 Ultra instead of the 80.40 driver to see if I could break the 6K barrier. Still OC'd to 500/1300, I ran 3DMark05 with the drivers in performance mode and scored a 6050!!!! Freakin 6050!!!!!!

Temp and Performance results

OK, so I just ran my comp through the ati tools artifact test for almost an hour without any artifacts. So, I guess my 500/1300 setup is pretty stable. It's running at around 89c pretty steady with ambient temp. being around 70f. This is a little higher than I hoped (85c), but is 89c bad? I basicly just want to make sure my card isn't going to die. I guess it is set to downclock the core at 101c and I don't know how to decrease this. I don't think anything over 95c could be that safe. That just seems really hot. Anyway, let me know.
