Somebody want to confirm success of burning iso and booting from the subsequent CD?
Are you doubting my skillz?

I burned the ISO and tested it works like a charm.

Dude there is a boot sector that can only be written if you burn it as an image....Otherwise it will not boot.

YOU CANNOT just extract/copy files to a data disk.

Do this in NERO:

Select RECORDER
Select BURN IMAGE

Point to the ISO

You need to download the image, *.iso file. Use Nero, burn image and select the downloaded *.iso file.

I say to use a CD-R because bart CDs have had a few problems with RWs.

And I know you can rip a CD, just wanted to make sure it was tested before I told this guy that he was probably burning it wrong.

There was no .iso file contained in the file in the first post. The screenshot I posted a few posts up was everything I got from that download.

I'm not trying to be rude, but are you sure you want to hack your bios?

6800UBOOTROM.rar of the 1st post contains the image. At this point your limited knowledge of computing is much bigger risks and can do more harm as you try to do this bios flash/hack. Please be very careful if you wish to proceed. Good luck.

Alright heres what was throwing me off. I was downloading the .rar version of the file. I would go to WinRAR, extract it, but it would show another file with the "WinRAR file" icon. So I was assuming it just didn't extract. And besides, I'm used to just double clicking every file I see in the WinRAR program with the WinRAR 3 books (or whatever it is) icon and extracting it. Well, turns out the 2nd file with the WinRAR icon was in fact the .iso. So I was extracting the .iso and getting mad because I thought it wasn't included in my extracted file.

It also wasn't showing up on Windows Search and it only showed up on Nero after I restarted Nero.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for putting you through the same thing a bunch of times when it was just a brain lapse.

OCd it to 512/1300 and got a 5945 3d Mark. To up it a tad to try and break 6,000 or not to up it? It froze at 525/1300 and 1200 so I skipped 525/1100 and went right to 512/1300.

Soooooooooooooo Anyone else care to report success on their Bios flashes?

You guys (yagiska, cornholio, shoman24v and Ramit) should be congratulated for making this work around happen, I couldn't be more pleased! C'mon xps2 owners, where are their awards and standing ovation.

At 500/1200 I was able to hit 5792 with 40+ background processes running. I'm sure with a few tweaks, I could get it up a bit higher. I'll let you know my progress later on. Thanks again.

No question about it!- My wife is asking me why I'm so happy these days I said -"yagiska, cornholio, shoman24v and Ramit". That confused her more This XPS2 has taken on a new life!
