Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi: In My Hands and It's Staying That Way - Page 2

i agree ferrari dark. I actually use the cleaning cloth that came with the ferrari 4000 as a sort of heat sink/padding for my left hand to tackle the heat on the left side of the touch pad. Only heats up to a point where it can be uncomfortable when I play games though. VERY PLEASED WITH THE 4000.

Has anyone heard anything about the supposed Ferrari 4200 coming out?
Bannedninja Where did you order your Ferrari from? and how was your experience with them?

Got it from PC Super Deals. They can't really screw it up... I got the 3 year warranty. All they had to do was take the ferrari box and put it into a bigger box with my name on it. Resellers with whitebox laptops are a lot easier to choose from because they aren't physically touching my machine.

UPDATE GUYS

There is an built-in microphone?? I didn't know about this at all, but when I installed BF2 and it brought up my mic settings, I sneezed and I heard it through my speakers. I started talking and it all came up. I don't know where it is... I think near the front. I didn't know and shoot me if you guys knew about it :-X

I am considering buying an Acer Ferrari 4005 and a have a few "newbie" questions:

- Does the 64 bit CPU run any kind of 32 bit software? Any compatibility issues? I guess not, but I'd like to confirm;
- I just returned a HP zd8185 because it's /way too noisy/. How is the noise level on "normal usage" conditions for the Acer? I'll have it in my bedroom, so I would like to get the quietest laptop I can find (as long as it has great performance, of course...)
AMD64 processors runs all kinds of 32-bits software, and is able to run the new WinXP 64bits too
Don't buy the ferrari 4005wlmi if you have a problem with fan noise. The fan is constantly on. See this thread http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...4&page=3&pp=15

Thanks for the reply.

Now I gotta find a quiet laptop with 100Gb HDD and 1GB RAM...

You cant convert D drive to ntfs because the software used

ntfs, check your hard drive and you will see PQservice
which is used for dual OP.

I thought the Ferrari4000 notebook only had one hard drive (C. So how can you partition the DVD/CD-ROM (D drive)?
I think he means C & D are two partitions of the hd, while maybe he has the dvd-ram in drive E:

Any idea what you did to get it working? I installed the VIDCOMM bluetooth driver downloaded from ACER (Standard installation had the crappy microsoft bluetooth drivers) in order to get PuppetMaster working, and I think this improved the mouse handling a bit. But it's still way too heavy and still too slow for use in games.

have you tried to increment the sensibily of the mouse? control panel-->mouse and then you can modify many parameters

Is there any clear advantage of buying a Turion laptop instead of a P-M laptop? The benchmarks look quite equivalent...
The clear advantage of the Turion is that it can run (future) 64bit applications - and that you have "Intel Outside". In many 32-bit applications (games especially) the P-M is faster than the Turion and the P-M also uses less power which means longer battery time.

WLF46WLF - The Ferrari mouse is actually more sensitive than my USB mouse, but it doesn't really help to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse when the problem is the slow response time (You move the mouse and see that the pointer on the screen move approx 100ms later). - Thats not good for games at all. Also I think its annoying that the Ferrari mouse goes into battery save mode after a very short time. There is a 1s lag on getting out of the battery save mode.

Hope you ment that as a joke

sorry, I didn't understand at well your problem

I ditched the Bluetooth mouse for my Kensington Optical Elite, corded USB. The Acer mouse response time was much to slow when compared to my Kensington.

I don't know how I got it to work... I can kind of play games I guess but kind of in comparison to my Razer Diamondback.

It definitely looks like an awesome computer. That was very high on my list of possible laptops when I was picking a laptop to take to college.

Ferrari quality is good, but there durability isn't necessarily great compared to other cars. Ferrari’s are high performance vehicles and need service every 12,000 miles to maintain that level of perfomance. So you want your laptop serviced every 6 months.

That being said I still want a Ferrari 575 Maranello, and would drive it everyday.

Lol....

Jordan Bonkey, this is DEFINITELY a computer to look into. That is, of course, if you have $2200 dollars and want a laptop that is solidly built, nice and big screen, kind of heavy, great battery life and incredible gaming ability. check out my review of it in the review database.
