So i'm still deciding on a notebook and it's getting down to the wire on a final choice. I've finally narrowed it down to a 4 notebooks right now, possibly 5 if the 4 don't pan out. The two at the top of my list are the Travelmate 8000 and the Aspire 5020, in either case, probably the 8006 or the 5024.
This will be my sole computer for the next 4-5 years as I head off to college. I'm a mech. engineering major but am unsure as to what extent the computer is used for undergrad.
I like the 8000 for being fully loaded and for battery life, but I also like the 5020 for the 64bit, x700, and dual layer dvd.
The two real questions I have are:
1) is the media bay for the 8000 the same as the 8100? Can I swap in a Dual Layer dvd burner without the need for any modification?
2) is there an internal bluetooth module that works with the 5020 series? and are there any plans for a media bay battery, or any batteries that work?
Any comments would be appreciated.
