What to buy. Clevo or Dell XPS Gen2

I am in a decission of buying a best gamming machine.
I have some question before spending like $3000 +. if anyone can help me in it will be really appreciated.

I am a user of.
gaming high level
Photoshop (high level) and other graphic softwares
Oracle / MSSql Server 2000
3D Studio max (not very high level. just for learning and experiments. Low rendering)

Which one will be the best

Clevo models machines (I selected Hypersonic EX7)
P4 HT 3.6
with 2 GIG of RAM and 60 GB 7200 RPM HDD

or

Dell XPS Gen2 PM-2.0 GHZ, 2 GB ram, 60 GB 7200 RPM HDD

How you can said that which system is good in the following manners.

Heating (How much time it will take to get worried )
Screen type
Noice (Startup, general running, dring playing games etc)
Sound / Audio quality
Is the Graphic gard upgradeable in future for Dell

Weight is no problem for me

I read in forum about the clevo machines that get heated fast. Is it right?. Waht about the Dell XPS Gen2
I currently have Toshibe Satellite with Nvidia 440 GO P4 Mobile 2.0 GHZ and I usually close the machine occasionaly like once in a month or so. Generally I close the screen and its goes to standby mode automatically.

how good are the above mentioned in term of that usage.

What are the most problems you are facing having these systems.

regards

My experience with the XPS 2 has been excellent.

- HL 2 & BF 2 play smooth w/ high quality graphic settings
- Low heat produced ... even after hours of playing
- With the P 2.13 ... startup / general running / and playing games is incredibly fast - 3DMark05 score of 5229
- Sound has met my expectations, but I usually use headphones

Make sure to buy your RAM off Newegg.com. You can save some cash there.

Clevo from Sager, one of the best in the business!
Dell... why? Less heat, longer battery life, better performance. Thank you Pentium M!
I'm not sure about the Dell, but the Sager is reeeeealllyyy loud!
i would agree with the dell. pm will mean better battery life, less heat and noise, and it weighs 2-3 pounds less. the clevo looks nicer IMO, and sager (probably hypersonic as well) has better customer service than dell. if you get the XPS2, buy the RAM from somewhere else, as Dell grossly overcharges for RAM.
For photoshop the Hypersonic EX7 will rule with 2 hard drives.
If you have more non-gaming demands (Photoshop, rendering, video editing, etc), I would go with a Clevo clone, even though they have HORRIBLE heat and sound like a jet taking off (read sarcasm).

Is money an issue? or a big factor?
if it is i'd say xps2.

BUt if the weight and money rn't as big of factors i'd go for the sager(clevo) from pctorque.com

It will be hotter then the xps2 though

considering what your using it for the clevos would be a great choice especially since it doesnt seem like you move around a lot.

and if you aren't moving around a lot get a real desktop!

more bang for the buck

Games, I'd say a near tie, but Dell might have an edge for the price range... the highest end processor for clevo (3.8GHZ/2MB) might beat out the Dell; but dollar for dollar the Dell would beat it. Sign up on the Dell website and wait, you can get special offers like 33% off.

High Processor use applications - Clevo

Heating (How much time it will take to get worried ) - Dell, but most Clevo users don't have many issues at all except a possible issue between heat from the graphics card and the raid controller if using a raid on two hard drives.

Screen type - Many complain about the Dell, altough Cleco may look better I would say a tie.

Noice (Startup, general running, dring playing games etc) - Dell would be less noise

Sound / Audio quality - A tie

Is the Graphic gard upgradeable in future for Dell - I've seen nothing that states it is removable and I have searched high and low.

As of a week ago I had my choice down to a PCTorque Sager and a XPS2; Sager was just over $5100 and the XPS was just a tad over $4300 - Top processors for both, Sager with two hard drives and DVD light scribes; both with 3 year warranty and ADP.

I've decided to wait and look at the dual core AMD laptops that should be out well before Christmass.

$4300? Yikes! I got what's in the sig for $2550 and I'm getting a $100 rebate. So it will be $2650 with the 2 GB from newegg. That's what ultimately led me to buy the XPS. The Sager was $1000 more and I could not justify that cost, plus I think I will enjoy the battery life and less weight as I am going to college. So I saved some money, and still got a great machine. Wait for those 33% or 35% coupons. I believe there is a 35% one right now, but I dunno if it's expired yet or what. Good luck!

Edit: Nice.. 100 posts

Agree with all the above, except that at present the clevo screen is much better, even though it has a lower resolution than the XPS 2. The difference in viewing experience for games and DVDs is really noticeable. I have returned my XPS because of the sub-standard screen quality, and I didn't even have much of a sparkle or light leakage problem.

I am a loyal Dell follower, having had 3 Inspirons but will break for the Clevo D900K AMD dual core when it becomes available (August?). Dell has discontinued the P4 from their lineup and I need a workstation notebook with as much power as I can get and dual hard drives. Unfortunately, not an option with Dell. I did just read a review of the Dell M70 and the new HP workstations with PM processors and both equalled or beat the Eurocom D900T P4 workstation.

However, for gaming, I understand the XPSGen2 is unbeatable. You won't be making a mistake. Also, it will be a pretty good investment for the $$$ as it will take a while for the competition to catch up its performance.

If I had the choice between maxed out XPS2 and 9880, I'd definately go for 9880, if money wasn't an object.

XPS2 is more value for the money.

My vote is for xps2. Mine is f-ing awesome and the gaming is incredible.
