I know its a pain in the ass to post this stuff here but i really need to know, if im gonna format my hdd and reinstall or anything, how do I go about doing it without any help from dell (since they stopped redestributing the win cds and boot cds)? I guess ill need to find a win xp boot disk but what about my OS? I mean its killer to get any help on this! THanks

You can burn a copy of the OS. There will be an option listed on the start menu all programs. I burned my copy. It contains the OS but no dell drivers. As far as formatting, I don't think it needs to be done. I always just remove what I don't need and use a registry cleaner. I defragment afterward.

I wish I could tell you. I have had my laptop since April. After it is done the option disappears. You can only do it once. There was a blue card that came with my computer that outlined the instructions. Hopefully, some of the helpful members of the forum will be abe to lend some assistance.
