9880 Microphone Problem

I can't get my microphone to pickup like it can on my desktop. I pretty much have to stick the thing in my mouth to get any sound out of it. Any ideas?

I've made sure the microphone volume is up and everything else, so I think it just might be a hardware/driver problem. Thanks for any help.

Have you looked in advanced properties on volume control and checked mic boost? That may help if you haven't done it already.

is there any way to get an external sound card to use in place of the onboard one? or any other fix for this? I have microphone boost enabled, i just cannot figure out why the sound comes in so low from my microphone!

you have to enable "stero mix" in the advanced audio control settings for "Realtek HD audio Rear Input". The mobo uses the L channel for the aux input mic and the R channel for the onboard mic, I'm assuming. So if it's mono by default, the on-board mic is out of the mix.

Hope this helps

best
