and i love it so.

I will post a review if the demand is there, but with all the reviews here I don't see any reason to do so without at least 3-4 requests..

If anyone has any questions, I am willing to answer them, but I bet a have earned a reputation here as a "6200 nazi" so be aware.

Sony makes one more S owner happy.

Autonomy

Hello,

I'm planning to buy this Sony, but I would like to have more battery tests. If you can.... (Watching a DVD/DivX, Using MS Word, Surfing (BT/Wifi ON), Games, etc...)

Thanx

Do you have bf2 to try on it. You can never have too many reviews as we all see things differently. Congrats--the 460 is still on my radar.

I heart sata, no really the performance is really nice (i just moved up from a 4200rpm drive). Oh did i mention the hd audio, the internal speak leave a bad taste in your mouth, but with a nice set of heahphones you feel really good.

As for the demo, i will do, just give a couple days. I need to get the new nvidia drivers, get my software installed, make sure the cpu is fine, I have only recently "behaved" the CPU with rmclock, but it still needs to be tested.

Alright all, ran a battery test last night, the total battery up time was 3:45.

Here are the testing condition:
fully drain new battery, then spend 6hr charging it.

all perventative mechanisms were off, so the system turned off when the battry dies.

On Demand Clock Modulation was off, SpeedStep was on, the the CPU was locked at 800MHz@.700V.

The CD-ROM Drive was turned off.

The screen was at its dimmest setting.

the wireless was on the entire time.

Workload:
Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Gaim, Firefox, and IE, as well as all the stuff that sony has running in the background.

idling temp: 52 C
100% load @ 800MHz temp: 54 C

Would someone with one of the older S be willing to tell me their battery life, I would like to make a comparison.

Hi, I have the sony vaio s40 as well. wow 3 hr n 45 min is really good. For some reason, everything stock, it says it only has 2 hrs n 30 min after it has been full charged. Do you have recommendations on what kinda utilities that i should install or drivers i should get to help boost the performance. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks =)

Okay, what I use is rmclock to control the cpu. The standard sony setup has the cpu adaptively throttling even on battery so adjust, turn the screen power saving on, dim the screen, make sure the cdrom drive off.

Finally setup Rmclock to minimal and the 6x multipler to .700v, you should be set,

lostbob, the closer you can get to my setup the better, I still have a few more days to return this thing, if I have to, but currently I see no reason to

Also, what I have decide to do is to make a complete comparison of the older and newer sony S models, so if you guys can help with stuff like 3dmark scores(stock and tweaked), cpu temps, anything that can come to mind, it would be really great.

cheers

Hi, I also plan to but the Sony S46 or S48. How is the performance in playing 3D Game. Since I like the Pro Evluation Soccer (Winning Eleven 8). Also the Car Racing Game. As I know, the S46/S48 is using the Geforce 6200 TC(Share Ram). Is this bad. Since I read a lot of post which said that the Geforce 6200 TC is not good as ATI R9700 or R9600. Is it right? Or you have any information about how to Tune Up the Graphic Card.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
