Hi there

I am looking to buy a new laptop and i just started playing World Of Warcraft will the T40P be sufficient to play on with a decent framerate????

MR 7500? Nope.

It will play it, but i dont think it will be any good. My friend plays it with Shared 32mb and you cant really play it, but it still works. The T40P will not play it well at all, add a couple bucks and get something decent for games

i'd get a compal CL56 if i were you, under 1500 you can get a gameworthy config

CL56 only has a 9700, I'd rather get an X700 or Go6600, or even Dell i9300 with Go6800. I see alot of people getting it for $1500 or less.

under 1500!?! Are you crazy?

Look what I got in my sig, for that price, that'll play ANY game you want. You should'nt need to pay that much for something so little

Hmm this is really hard to answer. In general IBM laptops are great and high-quality machines, but not thought for gaming. The laptops satisfy in all ways, only the GPU is weak. You got the trackpoint which is great because it can really substitute the mouse also for playing FPS games, what you cannot do with a touch pad, but again the 3D card will be a problem. Actually due to where I work I always used thinkpads and really prefer them, but I am planning to buy myself a new laptop and because of this issue I guess it will not be IBM this time. But what also keeps me from other machines is, you have something solid and reliable in your hands and then you just touch other machines that are so fragile and plastic. Hmmm really don't know....

If you REALLY want to get a Thinkpad (to mirror Igorrr, they're high quality machines), then I'd look into some of the T42, T42p, and T43 educational models (if you are a student). You can get either the x300, the 9600, or the FireGL cards, all of which will play well. Obviously, the higher you go from the x300, you'll get better performance.

I would say the minnimum GPU to get now would be the Radeon mobility 9600, don't even bother playing on anything else. If you have to go cheap mabye the 9200 or 9000.
