Selling Sager NP-8880V

I'm thinking of selling my NP-8880V sometime soon. Sooner if someone is interested. I paid $2,800 but since I'm keeping the wireless I'll sell it for something reasonable. It's mint, no dead pixels, no scratches and fast.

It has the same options as the NP-8886V except for a 8xDVD-8x8x24CDRW instead of the new 16x10x24x.
Also has the Radeon Mobility 7500 64meg video.
Also it's 2.6ghz/400mhz instead of 2.8ghz/533mhz.

I can honestly say it plays Castle Wolfenstein, QuakeIII, UT2003 and many others smooth as glass. It has never given me any problems and the screen is SXGA.

My reason for selling is more because I need the USB2.0 ports and faster hard drive since it will be my primary system at work.

Any offers? Maybe PCTorque can come up with a fair asking price for me.

I guess nobody is interested. Ah well, maybe it will sell on Ebay.

If you haven't already sold it I have a friend who might be interested in it. I don't think he's looking to spend anymore than $1500 though, not sure what you were hoping for.

asking price

If you state an asking price that may generate more interest. I have a friend that may have an interest.

I was hoping PC Torque could help in the price department. It's fully loaded. I was thinking it is probably worth $1850.00, I'm open to offers. If you think it's worth less explain why and maybe I'll go there.

Actually the M7 is a great card, lol... I have it on my current lappy with half the ram and it plays BF1942 at all max settings pretty well... skips a frame now and then, but my gosh it's battlefield :-) Insanely realistic. I was trying to find a reseller that sells the 8880, a lot of them do. You should look around and see what a new one costs :-)

The 8880"V" model is top of the line. I don't see them for sale anywhere new anymore, but there was a few on Ebay for $2,200.
Mine has the extra AC Adapter with the vents and cooling fan. When I ordered the laptop they sent me the extra adapter with no vents, I refuse to accept anything but the best so they swapped it out for me.

beebster83,

It plays UT2003 1280x1024 no problem. The intro movies are smooth as glass. I don't really want to get rid of it, but then I don't mind upgrading either.

These guys are asking over $2,000 for one with 256megs and only 2ghz. Upping it to 1gig of memory, 40gig HD, they only go up to 2.4ghz and the other options mine has brings the price to over $3,200??? Holy mackeral!

I'm wondering if I'm asking to little?

lol, no, they're just insanely expensive :-) In other words, compare alienware to PCTorque :-) Hopefully someone who is looking for the older model will show up and want it :-)

beebster83,

Yeah I know, I do sell computers for a living. It's just you wonder how some companies can sell for so much more than everybody else and stay in business. I usually compare the prices I find at multiple sites before coming up with an average.

Ebay is good on used ones. I've never delt with PCTorque before, perhaps I will on this next purchase.

Pricing suggestion:

Find the Sony, Dell, Toshiba equivalents using the specs of your 8880V, then go to ebay and see what the high bids went for.

$1850 sounds reasonable but

I got my 5660 with USB 2 ports and the M9, granted half the ram and only 2.4 Ghz processor, for less than that. My friends that would want a Sager are all gamers and would be better off getting the better video card in a new 5660 for gaming longevity in my opinion.

I apologize if my statement sounded condescending in any way... it was not meant to be. I do realize that you sell computers. I have a feeling, though, that people who will look into this lappy will be either non-gamers or gamers who want the accessories of the 8886 series but can't afford a new one (since yours is a beast just like the newer series). Best of luck to you!

I'd have to agree, I'm going to be in a bind considering. I just have to hope whomeever is interested cares about a fast CPU and boat loads of memory.

beebster83,

No offense taken. I agree completely with you, I have to think though if people read my profile what do they think.

Also, just because someone says they sell or work on computers doesn't mean they know much about them, so I understand where you are coming from. I appreciate your input very much.
