Aspire AS1690WLCi memory discrepancy

I'm thinking of buying a 1690WLCi from NewEgg. At NewEgg, their specs indicate this notebook comes with 512mb DDR PC333 (2x256). At the Acer website (Acer America, USA), specs indicate the notebook is supposed to have 512mb DDR2 PC533 (2x256). I've also noticed the same thing at several other websites. Most list the installed memory as PC333. Tiger Direct is the only place that lists the memory in agreement with the Acer site, but I'd rather not buy from Tiger Direct (too many rediculous hoops to jump through for the rebate, not to mention that I just plain like NewEgg... ).

I was going to call Acer, but there's nobody there until Tuesday (Holiday). In the meantime, does anybody have any idea what might be up with that? Are these places sold different configurations of the same laptop? Is this a typo at NewEgg and the several other places that list this as having PC333 installed? Is this a typo at Acer?

Thanks, -kd5-

One other question: I'm assuming the 80gb hard drive in this laptop is a 4200rpm. How difficult is it to switch that out with a 5400rpm (or better yet, a 7200rpm)?

The User Guide is woefully inadequate.

Thanks, -kd5-

Oh well, I'd hoped that someone here owned a 1690WLCi and could verify what type of memory was in it, or explain why so many sites are listing it incorrectly. -kd5-
