Alienware pissed me off for the final time.

I'm not ranting tonight on the 90 things that Alienware did to make me not go through with my order.

The final straw was their new Area 51m's "FAKE" widescreen body.

IT'S NOT WIDESCREEN.

It's the same 4X3 body, but if you want widescreen, they just cut of the bottom inch and a half and call it 16X9....

So I plan to get a nice 17'' Widescreen, I was going to go with "L", but think it's just a hoax. It was reported that, their site used a photoshopped Sager 4780 as their Hollywood.....

http://www.go-l.com/laptops/index.htm

So right now I'm looking at Sager.

It's funny to see the same configuration as the Area 51m with a MUCH BETTER SCREEN for $2K less.

I just have a couple questions,

Can I get a different color than the blue I see here?

http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/p...tems.html#4720

Also what does the outside body look like?

Where is the Sager official site where I can configure a 4780?

Thanks.

It was funny, I called the 877 number today and talked with the guy for 20 minutes.

He told me they have sent out their first computers for review last week.

I will eat my tounge it is real.

a lot of the features they offer are physically impossible. like a pci-express ram drive paired with a normal intel mainboard.

PC Torque

Better than going official - go PCTorque who are a reseller www.pctorque.com . Funnily they offer better prices than everyone and also their customer service seems to be the best in the business. I would say that 90% at least, of people on these forums do their stuff with PCTorque, just like I will be.

Actually we are all just highly evolved 'bots (or sentient agents depending upon your movie slant) designed to make you think that we are real people buying Sagers from PC Torque .

Your normal program will resume after these advertisements...

BTW Boon is it true about the 51's wide screen? Short of owning a 4780 I think I will stick to my SXGA and put up with black borders watching DVD's. At least I can use the extra pixels doing other work .

FUNNILY - the word of the day!

Like that old EBONICS lesson:

"Word of the day: OMELETTE"

"Example: I should pop yo ass fo what you jus did, but omelette dis one slide..."

I think everyone on these forums could testify to the great customer service given by Adam and the rest of the Pctorque crew.

Yeah the Area 51 comes in two sizes, small and tiny.

A 16'' 4x3, and the same screen just cut and is now 15.1'' and 16x9.

It's a mess.

Actually, the machines with the 15.1" widescreen LCD use that extra inch of space inside the lid to install a pair of forward-firing speakers. That brings the system to 4 internal speakers, which should produce better onboard sound than most systems out there.

Personally, I'd rather have the larger, higher-resolution screen. But with better sound and a $366 lower asking price, the widescreen+speakers model does have its appeal as well.
