I am getting frustated with wireless signal on my 7405GX, is there any tweak to optimize the best perfomance on wireless ?

I have a gateway and a tiny sony and sony always is connected wireless and my gateway a lot of times get disconnected.

I have seen on the configuration that there is some options that I can change but I would like that someone tell me what is the best to get the best connection when the signal is very poor / very low.

any hints / advises will be appreciated

Broadcom 802.11G Network Adapter

After burner --> enabled ( I do not know what is this but it is enabled)

Antena diversity --> auto ( I can not change this, it is just auto )

BSS PLCP Header --> Auto ( short / long )

Framentation threshold --> 2346 ( I left it in that way becaus it is the default )

IBSS 54G(tm) mode --> 802.11b ( I decided to put that because I have very poor reception and I believe that it affects that, correct me I am wrong)

IBSS 54G(tm) Protection mode --> Auto ( it can be disabled but I do not know about it )

IBSS channel number --> 11 ( I do not know if it is a good idea to change it )

Locally administrated MAC address --> blank it is check marked with not present

Power Output --> 100%

Power Save mode --> High Performance

Radio enable / disable --> enabled

Rate --> 1 Mbps

Roaming decision: --> default ( I do not know what to choose there on my scenario that I have "very poor reception)

RTS thershold --> 2347 ( I left in that way because it is the default )

XPress Technology --> Enabled ( I do not know what is this also )

If the incoming signal strength is bad, there really isn't much you can do that doesn't involve some manual labor and tinkering with things that aren't really intended to be tinkered on by end users.
You might try checking with people that have the same WAP as you to see if there is a way to boost its signal strength. I know people say there is a way to boost the power on Linksys WAPs. FWIW I'm using the HP drivers on my Gateway, but I doubt that did anything for my signal reception.

i have good success with mine. i use the lynksis with speedbooster. i used to have it on the 3rd floor and used my lappy primarily on the 1st and i was always connected. i would lose it every once and a while, but it was going through 2 floors. now that i moved it down, i get full strength all the time with no drops. flawless.
