So here's my 6000d review after a few days of using it...
My specs are:
2GHz Intel Pentium M 760/533MHz
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 PC4200 Ram
128MB ATI Moblitiy Radeon X300
80GB 5400 RPM HDD
9 cell Battery
Sony 8x DVD/CD Burner(DVD+/-RW)
15.4" UltraSharp WUXGA
4 Year Warranty (for college)
All of this for about $1580, prior to taxes and shipping, of course.
Screen:
The WUXGA LCD screen is simply amazing. No matter what angle I view it at, the picture still has amazing clarity. Also, the resolution is great at 1920x1200, but anything lower than 120dpi is too hard to read...
Graphics:
Since, I'm not much of a PC gamer, so the x300 is quite adequate. But I can run Battlefield 1942 at max settings with no slowdown whatsoever...
Sound:
The sound is great, especially for a laptop, but I'm no audophile.
Keyboard/Touchpad:
The keyboard is fine and does not present any problem. The touchpad is great as well, showing great responsiveness and quite easy to use, although I prefer the eraserhead-style mouse.
Noise Factor:
Overall, the fan noise and harddrive noise is unnoticeable. However the optical drive can get a bit loud during DVDs and games, although this is usually drowned out by the speakers.
Overall, the laptop is great, a good mix between portability (although it is still quite large) and performance. After a few hours of running, it still remains quite cool, with the keyboard only getting slightly warmer.
