I have had my 5660 since 11/02. Except for the rear LCD panel cracking near hinges ($40 fix) & the CMOS battery needing replacing (twice), The unit has worked without issue.
I use mine as a desktop replacement (never leaves the house). I have a scanner, printer & external HD connected to 3 of the 4 USB ports. I switch off connecting a RIO player, Multi-Card reader & Video converter to the fourth USB port. I use both the internal LAN connection & a wireless adapter connected to the PCMCIA port. I also have a external CD burner connected to the firewire port & a wireless mouse connected to the PS/2 port.
I edit video, burn Cd's and surf the net. I probably run the laptop approx. 5 hrs. a day.
I have added 512 ram (1gig total) & a new faster internal HD Hitachi E7K60 40 gig 7200 rpm.
I have the process of cracking the case to replace the CMOS battery down to a freakin science
Any others 5660 owners with their 5660 still running let us know
