18 lb Package?

The inspiron 6000d I ordered is going to be delivered tomorrow. On the ups tracking page it says its 18lbs. Is that pretty standard for the 6000? I'm estimating 7-8 lbs for the laptop that leaves ~10-11 lbs of manuals and ac adapter? What else comes in the box. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

my 9300 weighed a little more, but the actual laptop weighs like 7 pounds. it's just all the papers and manuals, boxing, packaging that makes it heavier.

My 700m, the small nylon bag, and the rest of the packing and what not was 15.40 lbs, so that doesn't seem too far off.

My 9300 was 14.5* LBS according to UPS. Did you do 3-5 ground or air? If Air or better, mabey its beeter packing? Who knows.

Just standard free ground shipping, thanx for the input guys I'll post pics when I get it even though you've probably seen the 6000 numerous times.

My Asus (its only 6.6lbs) was 15lbs with 3-day shipping. Keep in mind, they include the power supply, a box or two, packing material, books, and the like. Plus, they seem to tack on a few pounds... my box didn't feel nearly that heavy.

On the UPS tracker, my package only came in as 12lbs. The package contains the notebook, a large sheet of paper with a diagram of the computer, the adapter, 2 CDs, a small quick start-esque manual, and filler styrofoam/cardboard spacers/etc. I think that was all, if I remember...

Interesting, my 700m is being shipped and it reads 18lbs too. Wow, the search button worked!

my XPS gen 2 tracking says 18lbs. as well, no worries its most likely all of the packaging.

Yeah, the shipping weight is ridiculously higher than the weight of the system. My system is 6.9 lbs. and the package was like 15 lbs. Nothin' a worry about =)

is it really worth making a post about the weight of the box that is being deliverd
also the amount of people that remember the weight that theirs was when they recived it is rediclous
why dont you go spend the next few hours of your life hitting the refresh button on the tracking site and maby it will get there faster.
next time give your head a shake before posting a question as stupid as that
