Must be good to be king

Thread Starter
Raspberries to sakor1's hideous faq's. They are chopped full of opinion and VERY, VERY slanted. Not a FAQ. A HIGHLY opinionated editorial is more like it. Shame he closed the thread... must be nice to be king... can always have the last word... even when it's completely wrong.

Bad, bad FAQ.

Nice.

Is that kinda like "chock full"?
And WTF are you talking about, is this even nessecary? If you have a problem with someone, you should use PM.

how about you write a better one then? or else stfu... many of us have found it useful and true.

Yeah, it is kinda a glorified editorial I give you that. But I am not a journalist by trade. I do not practice writing third person, non-biased work. To be honest, I didn't even score particularly well in my English VCE's... that was never my strength.

But I tell you what, at least I try. I have put a lot of work into those FAQ's, there is a lot of information there, which takes a long time to compile, edit and publish. As a result, of course I am going to take some insult to them being called 'hideous'. I'm sorry, but maybe you can have a better go at it? Feel free, I'll even sticky it for you.

What is in it for you? NOTHING. That is right, that is what I do it for too, merely to help out my fellow forum members like I do with every post here. As for closing it afterwards, if you saw the previous FAQ you would understand why.... it keeps it from becoming cluttered. Updates, etc are all clearly visible on the first page. This is not some vain attempt by me to have the last word but rather an attempt to keep them useable. If you want to leave questions, feedback, etc on them that is why I have created the FAQ notices in the main sub-sections!

Next time, for such a post, maybe you would rather air your grievances over PM, or keep your mouth shut because I have not seen anything particularly constructive come out of you thus far.

Thank you, cjcox. You have successfully wasted our time. Would you like a medal or a complementary cookie?

This board has really started to head south...too many thankless/clueless kids spouting off here lately.

SAKOR...keep up the good work man!

You have a serious problem. All sakor has ever done (from what I have seen), is try to help others on this board. The FAQ may be 'chopped full of opinion' (I see where you are coming from for some of the points on different models.... but then again they are based on popular opinion around the board) but it is in no way 'hideous', it has helped me out greatly on numerous occasions.

I have yet to see anyone one else contribute so positively, and so much of their own personal time, to this board (save perhaps Adam, Luke and other admin)... as well as all the modding work (I've seen a buggerload of thread moves most days) he takes the time to write that. My hat is off to you sakor, and shame on you cjcox, like to see you do better

I actually found sakor's posts quite helpful. Like everyone else said, put up or shut up.

I'm not one to keep a rather bland thread going, but quite honestly, I think your comment was rude and unnecessary. If you can suggest a better idea, perhaps you should do that rather than insult the author of a powerful learning tool for many.

Here's a cookie, now go away little boy and play.

I heard MJ is holding a party at his ranch for little boys like you.

Constructive criticism maybe welcome but this is just rude.
I've read his FAQ's and they helped me some. Maybe not as much as I could have hoped, but they at least they narrowed down what I needed to find.

If you had said what he could have done better instead of just lashing out you would have been better recieved.

Thanks Stu for your hard work!

cjcox - what exactly did you take offence to in sakor's FAQ?
I think we might be going a bit far here (I can already feel the neg rep coming my way). I'm certainly not saying I agree with cjcox, but this is a forum and he is entitled to his opinion. Yeah, he probably should have just used PM instead, but I don't think that warrents a barrage of attacks. Like I said, I don't agree with him at all, but it's just his opinion and we are all entitled to have one.

Perhaps this is a good place to ask:

Why is the FAQ thread locked?

It seems silly to have a Frequently asked questions thread that does not let you ask questions?

Here's one: What's with the plastic covering the 100000 precisions on the lid of the M70? Do you remove it? Leave it on? If you leave it on could it damage the lid?
