Nothing wrong in peeling off the protective plastic film on the lid; however, it minimizes scratches on all that nice magnesium

So... you are all upset with me because I'm not in favor of somebody posting inflamatory information and then closing (locking) the thread preventing open discussion... right??

Hmmm...

Kudos to all of you who damaged my reputation. Do you bother looking at my posts?? No. You seem to be upset because I don't like it when somebody writes opinion and tries to PREVENT all others from posting ANY comments about it.

Granted I'm not a moderator here (and it looks like that will never happen now), but I will tell you that I believe in open forums... NOT closed ones. To each his/her own I guess.

Okay, then riddle me this... what part of Sakor's FAQs were inflammatory? I just read through them and noting caught my eye. Seems like this is just a case of sour grapes because he's the one with the excellent stickied thread and not you.

Here's one: What's with the plastic covering the 100000 precisions on the lid of the M70? Do you remove it? Leave it on? If you leave it on could it damage the lid?
It is locked so it can be neat and clean. I do the same thing on my forum and many other do as well. You can ask your question in the forum regular, and if it is asked enough it will be added to the FAQ with an answer. I have seen some forums that do not lock it and a ton of people post after "Hey, nice FAQ" and some other poeple asking questions. If they are answered then it may get lost in the clutter. And also just because it is a question doesn't mean it belongs in the FAQ. Keeping it locked keeps it organized and clean. Its easy to find what you need and it doesn't take a day and a half to wade through all the needless "Hey, nice FAQ" posts to see if there are any more questions.

I am not in nyway saying that something should not be praised when credit is due, its just that I feel that it doesn't belong in the FAQ page. Threads like this can be posted, and PMs come in handy as well. I'm sure sakor welcomes all your praise and constructive criticism, but the FAQs here are done well and done right. Very professional looking and a good read. As for the FAQs being bias, that a funny thing since ALL FAQs are essentially so. Its a collection of user opinions put into a organized form. SO, the real question is.... What does cjcox have against the good people of NBF.com?

OK, I am quite new here so i've spent about 50 minutes reading this thread and then reading FAQ's.

What was the problem of the OP?

Nothing is perfect, but I can see someone putting a lot of effort in order to help their pals.

I consider myself a little computer-literate, I have 6desktops in my home assembled by me and all of them run smoothly.

However, my only laptop until now was Libretto 110CT.

Now I 've got 6000D and I've found some answers to the questions i had just by going through FAQ.

Thank you sakor1.

My opinion is NOT biased one way or another.

Peace.

In answer, FearlessFozz summed the reasons up perfectly:

Further, what have I posted that is "inflamatory information" (to anyone other than yourself who has seemed to take offense at nothing)? I welcome constructive criticism and suggestion, and happily add them to the FAQs, it is not like I ignore everyone (just have a look at the section where I recognise contributors... for example, V.B. has written a fair chunk of what you see in that FAQ for restore, wireless and bluetooth).

"and then closing (locking) the thread preventing open discussion..."

Just quickly on that, as I mentioned above FearlessFozz perfectly explained the reason why it is locked. I just want to add that I do not prevent open discussion, in fact that is what the rest of the board is for! I even have a sticky at the top of each major section open to suggestions for the FAQ (even if not really used by users, I have the option there):

Lol, forgive me... I often forget what market this forum most often caters too. I'm not sure what you guys do for final year of school (you get a score that Universities/ Colleges use to choose students), the one I did was VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education)... I did OK, but as I said English was never the strong point

Sakor is my new Hero!

And I do think the FAQs are done well. They are much better than the Dell Community Forum FAQs. Sakor should work with them to clean them up and get a contract payment. And at least its more than "You know the rules, so there" like I ran across the other day surfing.

And I'm just happy with any forum were they let me post this ----> and not get linched for doing so...

ROCK ON NBF.com!!!

And I have to say that the first post I read of laffingbilly left me feeling a little like "this guy might be an ahole" but once I read some more posts by him I realized he knows what hes talking about and welcomed and comments. NBF.com in gerneral has a great group of people and a huge client base. Sakor hinself moderates this forum and participates in many others as well. Providing very helpful info in each post where he answered a question.

The point is, take it for what you want. First impressions can greatly skew your judgement before the whole picture is seen. I almost let it happen to my self. But just keep an open mind and have fun. No one asked anyone to do anything here, its all voluntary and many many people here enjoy the visits, reads, and info. Even just for a laugh.

And as for things being Bias, I ask you this. Has there ever, in the history of the world, been an unbiased publication? For me, I think it would be totally impossible for it to be totally unbias. Its just not human nature. Even aliens make mistakes too, (Thinking cows are the dominant species of our planet, )

EDIT: I'm corny I know but people like me in real life, they really do...

Bad, bad FAQ.

Nice.

cjcox, i'm not upset with you...here i'll give you a hug. does that feel better?

personally (really absurdly redundant, because I'm the one writing the statement), I feel (once again, since i'm writing the statement) that if you had referenced specific issues with the FAQ, rather than simply writing "They are chopped full of opinion and VERY, VERY slanted. Not a FAQ. A HIGHLY opinionated editorial is more like it." everyone can complain, but it is far more difficult to provide solutions. You did not provide a solution (i.e. point out specific points that were inaccurate); moreover, if you thought there were inaccuracies, then wouldn't have been far more useful and rewarding if you would have just pm'd or emailed stu? Have you ever seen any other forum, website, or anything else that establishes rules of engagement or policies that are open for discussion? I haven't. If you have, I would like to see it.

i think (again redundant) you hath contributed to your damaged reputation by criticizing rather than by constructively criticizing. by the latter, you would have pointed out specific concerns or emailed/pm'd to stu (wait, i already wrote this).

i do not believe that stu had closed or locked the forum, if he had you would not have been able to start this thread. After several responses, you have yet to highlight exactly which parts of the FAQ section you dislike. So have you contributed to bettering the forum, or just vented for the sake of venting? i'm not a stu fan, simply because i hate journalists and i dislike low exam scorers (especially on VCE's, tsk, tsk), but there can be better ways of resolving your concerns.
