Dell Inspiron 700m replacement ? - Page 2

if the 700m came with a 256mb geforce go, it would be the perfect small laptop.

256mb geforce in 700m

The geforce 6800 is like half the size of the 700m, keep dreaming.
Would it not be reasonable to epect that a majority of the size on the 68XX is video memory? So a 128 meg version might be doable. Or maybe a 128 66xx version?

Even the 6600go is quite large. Remeber you need the gpu and memory + all that metal and fans that keep it cool.

What I would love to see:
-widescreen/glossy (like 700m's screen)
-Under 6 lbs
-4+ hrs battery life
-multi-media buttons
-good speakers (maybe harmon/kardon)
-good graphics card
-full size keyboard
-nice design (maybe something like 9300/6000/700m)
-good price!

Ahh....if only....
It's so hard to find all of these features in a laptop without paying a lot!

asus makes one that fits that description

the sony s-series is basically a 700m with a MUCH BETTER video card

the sony s is pretty much a super 700m
- same glossy widescreen
- same size and sepcs
- better keyboard
- beter video card (m9700 on s360 and x300 on s480)
- better battery life (4hrs with standard, 7 hrs with extended)

too bad its like $2000 though =/

That's the one problem, and that's the one reason I will not buy a Sony. I would rather buy a Dell for much cheaper.

I thnk the Asus W3V is a good replacement for the 700m.

The Asus W3V is nice but kinda expensive. I think Gateway has a slick looking widescreen 14in.
