surge protection

currently, i have the power adapter of my i6k attached to a surge protector.

in a few days, i will be going on vacation and will have to plug the power adapter directly into the wall socket. i'm wondering if the power adapter come with some surge protection in it or do i need to buy a separate surge protector for the notebook?

I would say that you invest in a notebook surge protector like the one linked to. What's ~$20 or so when you probably spent about ~$1000 or more on your laptop? I think it's worth the investment.

Thanks for the link. Would you happen to know if the i6000 takes the PNOTEPROC6 or PNOTEPROC8 model?

I have this Kensington SmartSockets single port surge protector. The nice thing about it is that since it's just an AC outlet, it works with any notebook, but it does look a little bit bulkier than the other one.

I don't know yet, but I should receive my laptop by 5pm CST today from the UPS man. I will let you know, though. Hopefully other 6000 owners can answer.

I just go my laptop today. I don't think either one of them fits. The plug looks like this. I guess I will just have to get one that you plug in before you plug into the wall socket like this. Sucks because I want an inline surge protector. Any other 6000 owners out there that use an inline surge protector? If so, what brand do you use?

That is a different plug. They sure don't make it easy do they.

What your first impressions of the 6000?

Hell no, they don't make it easy. I don't know what my impressions are because I will open the box later and test everything out. I got some friends in town right now.

you have to get a multi-volt surge protector. even with it, you will still need a plug adapter for whichever country you are going to to attach surge suppressor to wall.
