Is anyone using "Messenger Plus!" for MSN messenger?

A friend wanted me to try this "Messenger Plus!" (http://www.msgplus.net) thing for MSN messenger, so I said "OK." When I was installing it, some warnings came up; one from Avast (antivirus) and the other from Microsoft Antispyware:

A virus, according to avast, and some spyware. Lovely. But thanks to these program, both were removed....at least what it found. Then MS Spyware asks if I want to do a scan to try to find any other junk. Well it did:

Now my question is, was that actaully a virus???? I know that other stuff is spyware, but who would include a virus in a somewhat well known program? I remember trying to install Battlefield Veitnam on my bros computer and AVG claimed one of the files was a virus so it just makes me wonder.

But here is the trick...READ!!!...like I didn't do the first time:

BUT, even choosing this option, I get notified that Microsoft Antispyware found something again, but I removed the junk and Messenger Plus! still is functional.

But look what it says on thier website (http://www.msgplus.net/download.php) "Messenger Plus! is a freeware. Freeware is neither spyware nor shareware but freeware......"

The program itself is not spyware, but it includes spyware, even without the sponsor crap.

Anywho, it pi$$es me off.

Update

I ran Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, and MS Spyware (again) and it looks to be clean. As I am browsing the forums, this comes up:

What the crap is this?!
