Gaming 15 inch laptop at around 2000$ ?

Right now, my best bet is the z71v from asus, but im uncomfortable with the 6600go, Im hooked on BF2 high quality graphics anyways and still got a big budget.

I HATE the dell 9300 or XPs2 because they are just huge, crappy price on ram (Id like 2G for running BF2 swapless) and heavy too

I wonder, I mean the z71v looks PERFECT but ONLY the card could BE a 6800 go instead , so Im looking for that, something higher, or even a 6800 ultra go, I dont care, I got about 2000$

Im limited on the choices of brands though, I gotta be able to get them locally (Im in quebec, but 2000$ is in USD). It's a scholarship thing.
I got access to pretty much all known brands, just cant use prices from newegg with those weird rare laptops like MSI and ASB(?)

Id love it to be a customizable laptop too like the asus I dont need a new OS, nor a huge HDD (though has to be 5400rpm)

Ferrari 4000 (4005wlmi) has better performance (due to higher stock clock ATI X700 and better cooling) than the z71v and the Ferrari 4000 (4005wlmi) is at around $2000 right now. And if you want a more powerfull GPU Sager has the 7620 15.4" with ATI X800, it's about 10lbs though.

Crappy price on ram? Ever hear of aftermarket.

BTW you aren't going to get an awesome gaming laptop with a 15.4" inch screen.

If you drop 2g's on a 15.4" laptop you may as well got what I have in my sig. Sure it's 'heavier' but nothing matches the performance for the price.

well only awesome gaming laptop for 2k with 15.4 is a Acer Ferrari, sure its not really a performance laptop but man its got that SWEEET case and thats all that matters!

I really really dont have a 17 inch. If its impossible to get a x800 or 6800 on a 15 inch, fine, then Ill forget about it.

Anyways
The ferrarri does look interesting. Though I cant justify it. X700 vs 6600 go difference is very light plus the 6600go can be easily OCed on the Asus.
Thing is, the asus, with 2G of ram, 40G HDD SATA, DVD DL burner, 6600go, P-M 1.8ghz would cost me only 1600$ compared to 2000$ for 512 DDR333mhz and a tuirion. I dont need 100G, I got an external 200G

Get a 7620 at PCTorque.. you can get a pretty decent one for 2k.. only laptop that is 15" and can have the x800 and 6800

Only problem is that the 7620 uses a p4, and I remember reading posts with people having heat issues. I may be wrong, try searching.

sager 3880 has ultraly overclockable go6600.. 300/600 default.. runs at like something like 380/780.. faster than x700 after overclocked..
the ferarri 4005 should be 2nd fastest
but da best overall 15.4inch laptop has to be the yet to be released which is the asus z70v refresh with x700...

the z71v is the best bang for the buck.. get a 1.7ghz 400fsb processor run it at 2.26 by a simple switch

Well, you could always get the Dell Mobile Precision M70 which comes with the NVIDIA® Quadro® FX Go1400 256MB OpenGL graphics. Its basically the same as a 6800go. Although, the price of the precision, imo, is a major rip off. But if u got tons of cash to blow, i guess it would be something good to look into.

I second a 3880 Sager!

3880 sager, or dell M70. if you buy anything from dell, buy your ram from newegg.com or mwave.com

Dude seriously, get a XPS Gen 2. If you want a premium gaming laptop this is it. The screen is amazing and the machine itself is super. It's also great for dvds and whatnot because of the screen.

Do you guys actually READ what he wants? He wants a LIGHT laptop. Heck, if you're going to get a 15" Sager that weighs 9.9 pounds, why not get an XPS2 which is 17" and almost 2 pounds lighter?

Right now, I'd say you're pretty screwed though. If you don't want an XPS2, you aren't going to get a lightweight gaming machine except for the Ferrari and Asus designs, both of which are far inferior to the XPS2 and Sager 9880.
