nView gridlines alternative?

Does anyone know of an application that allows you to setup gridlines and maximize windows into the area defined by those lines, similar to the way nVidia's nView allows you to? I have an X300 in my laptop, so I can't use nView, but I really miss this feature.

Any ideas are appreciated.

In case anyone else is interested, someone on another forum pointed me at Sizer which does exactly what I want.
