win2k pro help....

Thread Starter
a client of mine has given me her computer fix, here's a few initial issues:

1)what's the win2kpro equivalient of msconfig in XP?
2) the cd is completely dead, won't open.
3)will xp pro be too much for this machine to handle?

it's an older compaq, AMD 700mhz duron 256mb/ram

EDIT: ok so it turns out that if i boot into safe mode, the cd tray will at least open, but unable to read any disk.

EDIT...i dont want to hose anything, but i think reloading the OS will be a great big help here. can i install a fresh copy of XP while still providing the option to boot from win2kpro?

i don't believe there is an msconfig type feature in win2k. these might be good replacements:

the other stuff i have no clue. i am sure you tried re-installing or updating the cd-rom drivers?

runxp's msconfig in 2k. I do it all the time. Copy the msconfig.exe and the msconfig.chm files toa floppy and have fun. There is a msconfig for 2k but I prefer XP's.
