VIVA! Atheros WIFI. DOWN The With Intel 2915 Hunk of Junk - Page 2

Whats the difference between the GN-WIAG02 and the GN-WIAG?
Guys I just spotted a GN-WIAG01

Looks the same as the GN-WIAG02
How do you install it?

I have been using Atheros Wi-Fi cards for a few years now. I must say they are the best Wi-Fi cards I have ever used. Never had a problem, and pick up way more AP's while wardriving than I ever did with a broadcom based Wi-Fi card or Intel card!!!

Guys The differences are older Atheros chipsets:

GN-WIAG = Atheros 5002
GN-WIAG01 = Atheros 5004
GN-WIAG02 = Atheros 5005

5005 is the latest in production. There is a 5006 but I cannot find anyone who makes a card based on that chipset.

Even though I have no problems with my 2915 the super G is what is enticing me. I just bought the D-Link Gaming Router (DGL-4300) so would this Gigabyte card connect up with my router at 108Mbs?

Yes and might I add I am still running flawlessly with no connection issues and seeing 6 more access points than before with the CRAPTEL 2915 from around my hood. This puppy also works great for wardriving.

Sweet info cornholio, ty very much!

What is wardriving? and are there any other recomended internal wireless adapters? reviews?
I wonder if my 2915 is what makes the bottom of my m70 so hot? I know the ram is up in there, but that's pretty much it I think. The cpu and gpu are out to the sides as well as the hard drive. Could the wireless card really be getting that hot?

I might have to look into this wireless card though, my intel card is a bit better with the newer drivers but still annoying.

Just want to add that all is still smooth sailing with the WIFI card no disconnects and NO troubles playing online games unlike the CRAPTEL 2915.

Just waNted to update my first post and add the FN-F2 DOES TURN OFF THE RADIO JUST NOT THE WIFI LIGHT.
I'm really tempted to get this card. My Intel 2200 is total crap. Heck, I'm 2 feet away from my wireless router and it's experiencing speed drops and dropped connections!
is this honestly worth getting? I just got my laptop and the intel wireless was working good, but its disconnecting a lot and the wifi light isnt working all the time. How much better is this thing?

EDIT: LOL, i just ordered one from that ebay link.. I hope it works good for 60 bucks..
60 bucks?! Geez, I was planning on getting one of these a while ago, thanks a lot <strike>whores</strike>.

Just kidding, but you can get them from for $40ish Coboc (and they're linux friendly too).

Edit: Apparently strikeout doesn't work, oh well.
Edit: Added link, somebody PM me and edit my message if that's against forums rules.
