I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...
This is an awesome mouse with an excellent grip for a mid sized to large size hand. Right-handed, comfortable, trendy, upscale, red, responsive, functional, task oriented.
Overall A+++
Fantastic had this machine 6 months and can honestly say have had no bother with it. Plays games better than most desktops and keeps up with the rest which is outstanding for a...
Yep, it doesn't matter. The antennae in most laptops are installed in parallel in the LCD.
The thing with wireless networks is that there are so many variables involved, make/model/chipset/hardware revision/firmware versions of both access point/routers and wireless cards, and antenna quality. The only sure way to get absolute compatibility is to use hardware that all use the same chipset. And on top of all this there's also interference issues, etc.
These Atheros cards do indeed show a improvement in the majority of cases (in this thread, anyway), but there will always be other factors that affect success.
Mine runs at 63mw, even though the settings are set to 100mw. The client helpfile says:
At a guess I'd say that this is due to the internal antennae used, and that 100mw would only be acheivable with a higher gain external version.
Nicely put.
Personally I hate wireless. If I could walk around with a wired connection I would.

Is this the actual card, I recieved it and the card said AR5BMB5 on it. Is this a fraud deal because my wireless has acutally gone down in strength from the Intel 2950 pro...
I believe that is the exact same one i got when i purchased it off ebay ..... of course the discriptions says "Atheros 5005gs wireless nic" . Maybe thats part of the problem I am expierencing with lower than normal signal strenghs. Well lower than the intel 2950 i was using. the only difference i really see is that it always says 54 mb connnection , and i have never actually transferd any files over the network @ 54 mb/s or anyhting close to that :/
Remember that 54Mbps is the theoretical maximum speed, in the real world you'll average 20 - 45 Mbps after overheads and other factors such as interference. Remember 54Mbps (megabits/sec) equates to 6.75MBps (megabytes/sec), so you should be seeing around 2.5 - 5.5 MBps in real terms. What software are you using to test speeds? FTP is usually a good test.
If you're getting significantly lower than 2.5 megabytes a second and your signal strength is low then it could be any number of factors as I mentioned a few posts back.
I had Tak send me one of these. It works well when it works, locked at 54mbps and got 108mbps with my DGL-4300 wireless router.
But while running backups with Ghost 9.0, I got a blue screen with both the .56 and the .71 drivers. So I went back to the 2200 for now.
I've noticed also that the Atheros interferes with Bluetooth quite a bit, causing my mouse and keyboard to loose connection every now and then. Mind you, I've never had Bluetooth problems before and had several disconnects post-Atheros install.
Once I put the 2200 back in, bluetooth problems went away.
FYI, backups over wired 100 mbit work fine as ever.
I'll experiment again when some updated drivers come out -- for now, I'll stick with the Intel card.
Just FYI.
Also, don't expect AiroPeek or anything to work with this card, the drivers don't support the 5005 chipset yet.
Wow I just got my Toshiba Atheros AR5005GS and what a difference! Thanks OP for bringing this up. I ended up downloading the drivers from Toshiba's website for one of their notebooks.

I had bluetooth disco's all the time with the CRAPTEL 2915 also.

Are you using the Dell/Toshiba Bluetooth or Microsoft drivers? If so you could get better results with the hacked WIDCOMM drivers.
I am expeirenceing no problems what so ever using the intel 2915 pro.I have also uninstalled the pro through add and remove programs and just kept the wireless lan adaptor driver to compare .I have used the pro and also let windows run my wireless.I have been trying both with my 2 wire wireless router and both seem to work well using the intel pro does have more running processes and i have read where some say it takes longer to boot when useing the intel pro which in my case using the router i have it works flawless either the intel pro or uninstaling all but the wireless lan adaptor drivers and let windows handel it.It takes the same amount of time to boot and all. Also used it at my sisters house she has a linsky wireless router and works flawless there also.I used to have a inspiron XPS Gen 1 before i got my XPS Gen 2 the Gen 1 had a 1350 wireless card in it and this intel pro 2915 seems to work better then the 1350 i used to have in my other laptop.
I ordered one today, so I should have it by the end of next week. I'll let you know how it works out.
BTW, does anyone know which Atheros chipset is in the Toshiba PA3429U-1MPC? That's the card that's being sold at the above link. I've tried Google, but apparently this card is too new to have much information available yet...
