How much? I got my Gigabyte GN-WIAG01 MiniPCI for AU$75 delivered.

I got the Atheros card in the mail on Tuesday. It's a 5002G chipset, which makes it a 2nd generation card. Not bad, but it sounds like the Gigabyte cards on eBay are a better buy.

Anyhow, it does seem to have better range than the 2200, and it supports the SuperAG mode that my Netgear router supports. Nice! Now I can finally take advantage of my 802.11a network and be done with freaking interference from neighboring networks, microwaves, and cordless phones.

MitchellO, i also live in Australia, where did you purchase yours from?
I got mine on eBay from a seller called hebeda. Very helpful, and had no probs shipping to Australia for me. I have bought over 20 for my dads company in addition to my own card, and they are great. If you want one, give him a sale

Which is better? if you were to buy another one - which would you choose for YOUR computer (put price asside - which is "JUST BETTER")

A decent google translation of the Gigabyte WiFi auction:

And the Atheros AR5004X:

Well, I would probably get the Gigabyte card again, as I know its reliable, works with all my hardware (including 108MBit routers), and I have NEVER found the need for 802.11a compatibility.

its bought -

now gotta wait for it to arrive (which looks like ill be getting it about the same time as the i9300 will arrive - perfect for a first mod

SOLD AND SOLD - hahah Cheers for all your help MitchellO!

...unless you're like me and live in a neighborhood flooded with wireless routers. With all of the interference in the 2.4GHz spectrum from neighboring networks, cordless phones, and microwaves, 802.11a rocks. According to my limited war driving, mine is the only A network within a half mile of my house.

I, too, am interested in buying the GN-WIAG02 in the USA.

Please email me if you're selling, thanks.

My username AT gmail.com.

Thanks

just dropped him an email. I'm trying to decide b/t the two cards. Main goal is to get a chipset that works with kismet/aircrack. Only one of them appears to be compatible with it.

So...as a guy who's going to be buying a 9300 or an XPS in the next week or two, is there any card Dell puts in that's good? I was totally planning on snagging the 2915, it sucks? Are any of the others good?

WHat are the better pre-installed versions of wifi for both laptops please? need this info urgently!
ok, just bought the Atheros from him. very responsive. So far so good. We'll see when the product arrives.
Only concern so far is I hear non-dell PCI wireless cards cause the WIRELESS light on the lappie to stay on regardless of card on/off. It was posted in this thread somewhere

I just got mine from Tak

I love it, so much better than my intel 2100, I don't get disconnected when I multitask anymore!
does your wifi light switch off when you FN+F2 it? mine never goes off now that I'm using a non-dell WIFI card. Guess it's part of the dell criteria and that's what we lose when we go for non-dell parts.
