BF2 and 9300 - Page 2

I wouldn't call it poorly coded. I would say there are some tweaks that need to take place to improve performance. They have already taken a step in the right direction with the 1.1 patch. It seemed to fix some issues. I have not been experiencing the same lag that I was getting before.

Poorly coded is lame statement. I have seen comments comparing HL2 and its engine/graphics.

Take a step back, what game offers you the level of graphics, with the ability to "Drive" anything, on a 64 player server?

Answer: Nothing but BF2. Sure HL2 has better water or whatever, but MP in HL2 (not source) is so limited its not even funny.

I have had two problems with BF2, stutter when using high textures, which I fixed by lowering to medium until I bought more RAM, and server browser lag, which Dice fixed with a patch to a 2 week old game.

Just as a FYI, I was having problems with HD accessing with 1gb of ram. It doesn't matter how "fast" your HD is when you play BF2 if the game needs to access it, you're in trouble for a sec or two.

Also, AA is a big BF2 framerate hog.

But, BF2 seems vastly inferior to CS:S when it comes to framerates. Maybe these games are looking so good that you get diminishing returns so slightly better graphic features take a lot more processing power.

I have everything on medium and it runs great except I am getting weird shadow casting on buildings, etc. It appears that a building will have a clear cut darker shadow that goes from 40 feet away on... strange.

BF2 runs great on my 9300(2Ghz, 2GB RAM, WUXGA+ at 1600X1200, 77.50's) with all settings at medium and AA at 2X.
I tried the recent patch, but it caused some major pauses So I reinstalled without the patch and all is well again.

No problems (apart from the frakin wireless dropping out) on high settings for everything and at a res of 1900x1200.

Although the FPS does fall considerably when a lot of explosions happen at the same time which is why I dropped the res to 1400xwhatever

Your not running on high with a 9300 i GUARENTEE

Gantua I wouldnt doubt it. Check planetbattlefields forums and look for the post about the laptop users. 90% of them say they can play with the 9300 at high settings. There was one person in the sony section of this forum that played bf2 demo on medium settings with an x300 so I think a 6800go could do it.

How is that? I have almost the exact same specs and I run BF2 at 1920x1200 at maxed settings. I get >30fps 80% of the time. It's really smooth for me.

Settings:
High
High
High
High
Dynamic Shadows HIGH
Dynamic Lights HIGH
AA 2X
HIGH (Texture filtering or AF)
100%

i run bf2 at 1920x1200 with 1.86ghz and 2gb ram (6800go) at max settings and mine runs smooth like butter too (>30fps easy). memory is a big factor for this game.

How are you guys getting wide screen resolutions? I can only choose from 800x600 and 1024x768!
