what oc are you using? is it still the "stock" 450/1100? i was dissappointed 500/1200 eventually failed, but i definitely would like some form of oc and if the best i can get is "stock", that's fine by me.
Right now 450/1.06, I haven't flashed my new card. My old card was at 450/1100.

450/1100 is the NVIDIA default clocks. Dell lowered ours by 20Mhz on the memory.

i created a 450/1100 bios today with nibitor. flashed without a problem. i guess i'll start here and work my way up.

no reboots after 2+ hrs of css @ 1440x900. tried 475/1100. rebooted in about 30 minutes.

it's got to be a power thing....

How's NiBiTor working out? Do you like it?

Yeah man, its a power issue. I said along time ago that it probably wasn't the card.....lol

how much cooler is it ? I"m thinking about getting some AS Ceramique

nibitor's great. loaded original.rom, changed 532 gpu to 550, saved. and that was it... no hex editting required. followed the BART bootup instructions that were posted and everything worked as planned.

using bios fan control, my temps are about 5C higher than if fangui's controlling the fans. application of as5 to the cpu didn't really seem to do much if anything. wxga screen should be delivered today, so i'll report compatiblity later tonight.
got the wxga+ and installed. removing the bezel was really hard. everything else was easy. looks nice. better color contrast. but the res is obviously lower. larger pixels for things... like text and objectdock icons. games @ 1440x900 looked more pixeled than 1920x1200, but i prefer this over blurry 1440x900.... so far. time to stress test css, check temps, etc.
Woot im Glad it worked for ya bro. ill probally order mine this week sometime now that i know it works, when i did a stress test on CS source it was like 130 ish fps if i recall at 1440, so its like a 50 ish fps difference over 1920. i can live with a more pixellated screen for that kinda boost in performance not to mention games coming out in say 6 months or more will run awsome in that rez as well.

so when you call dell you just ask for spare parts then give them that number that you posted a few days ago and thats it ? thanx in advance..
i've got css capped @ 65 fps w/ fps_max 65. @ 1920x1200, i only used 2x AA, but now i've got 4x AA and it's still pretty constant @ 65 fps in game.

1440x900 + all high + reflect all + 4x aa + 8x af + no vsync gives 63.xx fps in the vst.

i can totally overlook the more pixelated look for smoothness like that. now begins the arduous task to getting the color levels right. it's already starting to piss me off.

as for ordering, i called spare parts, told them i was looking for the wxga 17" for the 9300 and they found this one. i was told the part # i posted a few pages back. but the "official" part # labelled on the box is X4766. good luck

Thanx for the info

one more thing.... you'll have to convince them that it's compatible w/ the xps2. i told them i installed my friend's 9300 lcd and explained how the chassis are identical etc. but you could just refer them to this thread.

update

oc'ed to 475/1150. css @ 1440x900 + all high + reflect all + 4x aa + 8x af + vsync ON gives almost consistent 60 fps. parts of certain maps coz it to dip, but w/ triple buffering most times it only drops to 45 fps but every so often it'll go down to 30 fps.

489/1100 is stable so far. also, my replacement system was delivered today. can't wait to get home. i'll do a screen + hd swap and see how well it runs. also ordered 2 gbs of ocz pc4200 from newegg last night. hopefully that ships soon.

Can you believe I have not flashed my replacement 6800 yet

Hey i_r0x0r5,

You can go higher on the memory if you like, take it 10mhz at a time. Try 560, 570, 580, 590, and 600... with each new flash run ATi Tool for about 10 minutes to scan for errors.
i'll try but it seems like such a waste of time to reflash. i'm hoping the new xps2 will let me get 500/1200. that's my goal.
UPDATE

replacement system arrived:

-swapped hds
-scuff marks on the lid... consistent w/ being a refurb
-uneven across the bottom. it rocks back and forth on an even surface
-worst light leakage on wuxga screen... entire bottom 1/2" is milky white... like a white rectangle
-flash oc'ed to 500/1200... crashed instantly in cs_assault. my current xps2 is most stable than that.
-didn't even bother swapping the lcds.
-i DID SWAP the wifi cards. upgraded from a dell 1350 to a 1370. w00t!!! figured i should get a little something for my trouble.

conclusion:

replacement piece of shit goes right back. however i may play around with it for a few days before sending it home. positive.... the gpu does NOT buzz.

i'm keeping the one i got. i like the wxga screen. the lower res doesn't bother me and games run sweet... sw rep commando... 1440x900, max everything, vsync, 4xaa, 8xaf.... runs PERFECTLY SMOOTH!!!! and it looks as nice as it did in 1920x1200.
Just a side note as well. I run 500/1250 with no reboots in BF2 demo but I will reboot after about 3 to 4 minutes of running AtiTool. Oh well at least it doesn't reboot in games.
500/1200 was stable in bf2 demo for me as well.... even though the gpu ran hotter than when playing css. but the way i see it, you can overclock as fast as your least stable game.... in my case... css.

still i've got native res, all high, reflect all, 4x aa, 8x af, and vsync ON and i still get mostly 60 fps. in fact the framerate w/ it on and off are almost the same. it consistently dips only @ the beginning of the round when there's like 20 people @ spawn.

unexpected shutdown

HI
MY AREA51M (5620) start shutting down unexpectedly and I don't do any games. I don't know if it is heat related or software.
Where can I download a utility that monitor system temperature.
Thanks
