Wait, but the government would never
endorse racial profiling, fishmanpet! >
How dare you question them!
Anyways, the TSA is basically a fluff organization designed to think people can be secure. Its really nothing more than a show... I remember some guy (I think he was a reporter) decided to test it out. He managed to bring everything from a gun to a foot long machete--all in ONE BAG! After the flight took off, he stood up in front of the cabin and explained what he had done. Of course, he was arrested...
Either way, they've stopped checking bags. I routinely fly between Roanoke (ROA) and La Guardia (LGA) every few months, and have been for about a year and a half. When I first started, they were pretty strict about it... they'd take the bags, open them, unload them and check the lining, put everything back, and so on. Now, they do the "breathalizer" thing (where they basically rub the bag to see if there are any explosive particles from a bomb on it) and that's it. You could probably load a 50lb suitcase with a bomb and they'd be no wiser.
