While we here at PC Torque were working out a method to pay shipping for DOA systems, Sager, taking care of everything themselves released this:

Recently there have been many questions and rumors relating to the question of whether SAGER ships untested Systems. A very common question is, “How does SAGER ship a system within one week or less, when every other brand requires two weeks or more?”

The fact is that every system shipped by SAGER is evaluated thoroughly in a series of tests over a period of two to three days. How can that be done? It isn't possible if SAGER is shipping Built to Order systems within a week. Yes, if SAGER is operating with standard Built to Order process this cannot be done. However, by combining both Pre-Built packages and Built to Order process into one. And by offering more desirable pre-configured packages, it allows SAGER to forecast the percentage of possible orders. By building and testing these systems before an order is placed, SAGER is able to ship an order as soon as the order is received.

How is the testing done? While not going into great detail regarding each testing procedure there are four major categories:
1. Power System stress test
2. Complete hardware function stress test
3. Software and Hardware function stress test
4. Final Installed software / physical defect inspection by a Supervisor

Some have questioned if the Operating System (Preloaded OS) is just an image that is restored. This isn’t the case with a SAGER system. An Operating System preinstalled on a SAGER system is in fact an unattended scripted installation following every Microsoft OEM Pre-installation Guideline. The process is identical to the normal installation of the Microsoft Operation System from the included CD. This process is run once during the pre-order testing including all the burn-in / stress test suite. It is then run again in the final process including current drivers and utility software based on the specific order.

We hope this information can clear up some of the questions our customers, or potential customers, may have. In addition, SAGER would like to take this opportunely to revive an old support policy that was discontinued a few years ago.

Starting Today 10/27/2003 SAGER will bring back our TEN DAYS from Invoice Cross-Shipping policy.

If your system has any verifiable hardware issues within ten days of your invoice date (SHIP DATE), you need only provide SAGER with a credit card deposit and SAGER will ship a brand new system 2nd day shipping (continental USA only), including a return shipping label, to replace the defective system. In the event that a shipping time takes longer then 10 days, Sager will use the tracking number of the package and based on the Signed Delivery Date will extend Three more Days from Delivery Date.

This policy was discontinued due to many Dealers / Users who misused the policy for such things as damages caused by mishandling after shipment, incorrect software driver / installation or usage, or issues that are standard / normal within SAGER pixel policy. Today SAGER would like to give this policy another chance, and to thank all of our customers for giving us the opportunity to serve them.
Discuss it HERE.
