It takes a 200pin DDR2 SO-DIMM. Newegg has 1GB chips for $108.00 - $115.00. I will be adding 2 1GB chips to my system and have 3.00 GIG of Ram (2.78 Useable).

so i assume you have 2 512 meg chips in yours now? if you add another 2 1 gig chips in the other 2 slots, would that still quallify as dual channel since half the ram is of different size? you will have 2 slots of 512 each and 2 slots of 1 gig each

Ok, so now we know what kind...
Is there any brand better than any other? corsair? transcend? PQI?, kingston? etc etc.
I am looking for fast and dual channel compatible?
Is there a website that reviews the memory brands and types?
sorry so many questions, but I am thinking about upgrading from 1 to 2 gigs...

My 7700 came with corsair which I think is good RAM. Most are now getting samsung RAM which is good also. Honestly dual channel for notebook SO-DIMM I have yet to find. You just by your RAM in two packages. IE Dual Channel RAM is RAM that is paired to match and sold together for DUAL Channel motherboards. You find this alot and very easly for desktops. If you put RAM in pairs of 2 or 4 you will have dual channel, if you only use 1 or 3 then its not dual channel, for the 3 I am assuming it still is not dual channel. I like corsair(very expensive), crucial(also expensive), and kingston. The reason for kingston is that on the Newegg website for the picture they use for the 1GB it appears to show they use Hynix which is very good in the same class as Infineon and for desktops these can handle higher speeds and overclocking much better than others. I assume the same is for SO-DIMM's as well. This is my own personal opinion and hope it helps. Good luck.
