Version S8 of the fan control firmware has come out.

New:
Fn + F2 will now turn the fans on high mode allowing for extra cooling, likewise pressing Fn + F2 will put the fans back in normal mode.

This should allow user wanting to maintain lower temperatures to do so.

Directions:

Using the included USB floppy drive you will want to insert a floppy disk and format it as a MS-DOS start up disk.

Next you will want to extract the two files contained in the archived folder to A:\.

Restart your computer with the floppy disk in, as soon as you reach A:\ prompt you will type the following command "h8flash.exe h8.bin". As soon as you are prompted to restart your computer.

Fin!

*Edit*
This BIOS should only be used if you have the new H8 fan firmware
Sager's newly design BIOS allows you to set the "Normal" fan mode to 2 different settings.

Automatic = The fans cycle off when the notebook reaches 45 degrees and then cycle back on at 60 degrees.

Continuios = The fans will stay on normal even if the temperature of the notebook goes below 45 degrees.

Thes new options can be found on the advanced tab in the BIOS.

In order to install the BIOS you will need to download WinPhlash and the new BIOS(R105B.WPH). Follow the instructions in WinPhlash to install your new BIOS and back up your old one.

I just ran it and I am extremely satisfied with PCT and Sager support!!!!
for those that ran it, how do the fans function? does this, by chance, cure the stuck fan syndrome???

Well, no, it's not quiet at all. It's loud. The warm part that I notice is still the left palm (video card) area.

When I try to install these files, I get the message

Disk I/O error

Replace the disk, and then press any key
What am I doing wrong here?

Loud?? in normal mode it seems to be quieter then the old firmware. in high speed mode yeah it's louder but i can't hear it when playing games and my temp is way lower, idleing at 49~51c, gaming not sure but i'm sure it's lower then before, as i use to idle at 63c in a 85c+ room.

at what stage are you getting the message? maybe it's a bad floppy disk try another one
post #15 of 207
It's at the beginning, before where the Windows logo would be on a normal startup.

It must have been a bad disk, and I got it to install. Is there any way to get the fan speed back to somewhere near normal? It seems my only options when I hit Fn + F2 are "super high speed" and "no fan at all"
I just received mine back. The forceware # for vid card is 7750. Is the 7770 on the sager site a better choice and does it require tweaks? I would like to keep the card as cool as possible (obviously)

i thought i have no fan at all at first also when i turn off the high speed mode. but it turn out it's just that it got cool down so much the fan doesn't have to be on until the temp raised for a while. and even when it did spin back up it seem to have jump to high speed for a short 1 second then when almost silent right after. so this new firmware is working Great for me high speed and normal mode.

If , for some reason I feel uncomfortable with the way the fans behave after the update, how do I revert back to factory specs?

you would have to get your hands on a older version from sager i guess.

but i don't think you would want to go back, in normal mode it works much better then the old version for me, it's more quiet. and the high speed mode you have full control so if you don't need it don't turn it on.
