Burn a CD-R/RW
Eh, seems like a waste of CDs, but I suppose I could do it. What are the procedures for making a DOS-bootable CD I can use? x_x

EDIT: Googled and followed the directions for Clean Bootable CD-ROM (For BIOS Upgrade) on this site I'll see if it works and I don't feck over my system.

Edit again. Didn't feck system, didn't get it to work either though.
Re-re-edit:Followed bootCD instructions on Bootdisk.com using ultraISO. Worked like a charm. I hate working with the BIOS x_x

lol =D
that winpslah or whatever worked wonders on mine whenver i updated my bios =D

i get the big clevo splashcreen (the h8flash.exe file i asume) pop up and say error file could not be opened when i type h8flash.exe h8.bin =( i've tried 2 bootable floppied, and 1 bootable cd, same error every time
post #145 of 207
I had the same message until i enabled "Cap Locks" and tried it. Then it worked maybe it is case sensitive. I doubt it but it worked. I typed H8FLASH.EXE H8.BIN instead of h8flash.exe h8.bin when the A:\ prompt was displayed. Give it a try.

I still so confuse at this moment

I still so confuse at this moment I still have the 1.001b frimware h8s3 and the frist bios that let turn the cloock in the front panel

I have one Hypersonic Aviator EX7 I get it in january so it is one of the frist, It is one of those with the 84xxxxxxxxxxx serial number and with the geforce 6800 go GDDr2 videocard... so the big question is did you know if is there is any problem if I use the new bios 1.005 the label under the unit say that the model number is D9t.

System specs:
Hypersonic Aviator EX7
P4 3.8 Ghz 32bits
2Gb Ram
Geforce 6800 Go GDDR2
1680x1024 glossy screen 17"
60Gb 7200RPM HD
TV tunner
4xDVD+-RW DL
DVD/CDRW Combo Unit
Windows XP
...

In the hypersonic drivers webpage is listed the 1.004 version.
what is diferent with the 1.001b the 1.004 and the 1.005 version wich one do you recomend?

Is there any diference from using the Fn+F2 key and change the fan option in the bios or both of them make the same?

And the big big question:

At this time my fans are on all the time any stuck problem with them, And they go on when I turn the machine on and the go to top speed when the computer is in heavy use and go to low speed when it is at low usage like at this moment when I am surfing the web...I like that way for all the time but when I play some games or when I work with software like powerpoint, coreldraw, or adobe creative suite at work I will like to put the fans at full speed to cool the machine...

So if I upgrade to this new combination of frimware and bios and I want to have the fans runing all the time at full speed I can? What Will I need to do that?

And if I want to have the fans runing normal at low speed and go to full speed if the computer temp go up, but I dont want the fans to stop at any time, I mean A config like the one I have now, can I have it with the version? something like continues fan running but with automatic speed with temp sense? is that posible to? what will I need to have that config?

I guess I ****ed everything up...I flashed the bios on my sager 9860 to try to fix my idle 50C temp!! Which is totally wrong, I used to idle at like 40C but I guess something happned to it that I dont know, so now it runs super hot, fans turned on all the time too!!

So I flash the bios, and i press Fn-f2 and nothing, so I guess I didnt get anything to work.. Im wondering, if I send my laptop to Sager for them to check it out, can they roll back my bios and fix the high temp? Anyone know??? Cus this 50C is rediculious!

anyone?

stop everything you are doing now and go to the beginning of this thread.

flash the fan firmware first.

then flash the bios update after that.

the new fan firmware will increase your idle temp. but so what? and 50C idle in the summer sounds normal. i idle about 50C right now as i am typing this.

Your 9880 used to idle at a flat 40C?

Man, that's pretty good. I have the new fan firmware and my 9880 constantly goes from 40 to 60.

Starts at 40, slowly climbs to 60, fans come on full blast, instantly throttle back, then the temp descends to 40, fans shut off.

Does this over and over and over....

Heck, I even run an external laptop cooler.

btw, I don't have the new bios, just the new fan firmware. Don't really see the need for the new bios.

the reason for the new bios is to prevent your system from climbing repeatedly from 40C to 60C all the time because it keeps the idle fans from stopping.
Really? Never was told that before.

So, with the new bios, the fan will stay at the idle speed continously? I take it that that is the "auto" selection, that the new bios gives you?

As it is right now, the fan shuts off completely when it gets to 40c. Does it ever shut off with the new bios?

Reading the description of the new bios on the first page of this thread, it reads as though the "automatic" funtion is damn new identical to what I have right now. The continous function sounds the same as when I hit fn+f2.

Seems the same as what I have right now....?
the new bios gives you the option of having the fans operate exactly as they do now with your system, where they turn on at 60C and off at 45C cuasing the temp fluctuations. or, the option for the fans to never stop spinning, thus, causing no temp fluctuations under idle or no matter how cool the idle cpu gets.

the option that causes temps to fluctuate is called automatic

the option where the fans never stop spinnig is called continuous (the prefered method)
I think I'd pull my hair out with the continous option. When I hit fn+f2, for the continous option, it sounds like a small jet taking off.

...but it sure does run coooooool that way.

It seems like the up/dn fluctuations couldn't be very good for the cpu. I know Luke wrote that it's not a problem; and it's all within the operating temp range for the cpu, but...it just seems like a steady temp would be more conducive to longer cpu life.

Maybe there will be yet another firmware upgrade...
the continous option does not function the same as hitting the fn+f2 where it sounds like a turbine jet taking off. the continous option simply prevents the fans from shutting off if the temps hit or drop below 45C, thats all. you want this bios update, it's easy and quick to do.
So your saying my laptop isent effed.. Hmm... I also talked to Tech support and they said that something still might be wrong.. If my laptop was idleing at 40C and then jumps to 5C for no reason... So I think I might still send it in.
For what it's worth, I flashed the bios to the new one...set it for continuous...the fan is running pretty quiet...idle temp is steady at 42/43C.

No more fluctuations!

I wonder how much shorter the lifespan of the cpu fan will be now? Ahh well, nothing lasts forever.

Oh God Someone Help Me Something Is Wrong

I installed the new firmware a few weeks ago, and I finally decided to update my BIOS. I did everything as stated in Luke's first post, and the computer restarted after I flashed the BIOS. I got the new Sager boot up screen (very nice btw) and then it went into the normal process of scanning for IDE devices.

Then I get a message saying "No array is defined". I get two options: to hit Ctrl+F2 to get into FastBuild, which I don't know anything about, or to hit ESC to continue booting.

When I try to continue booting, I get the message "Operating System not found". And here ends the startup.

What went wrong, and how can I fix this? I'm not the most computer savvy person here, and the fear of something like this happening was the exact reason I held off on updating the BIOS.

Please help me, internet.

when you flash the bios, it defaults the hard drive settings to raid, i belive. since you do not appear to have raid, you need to set the ata settings in the bios again.

Roboot and Hit F2 right before it checks the drives. It may take a couple of times to time it right. When in the BIOS goto the Advance tab and then change RAID to ATA.
