Jenry. In hopes to get you a better and more specific answer to your questions, I have quoted your mesage in the Hypersonic support area for Pat@Hypersonic to answer for you. As one of the technicians at Hypersonic, he would be able to give you the information you need.

Don't want to steal from the thread, as I have really enjoyed it. Just wanted to ensure the questions Jenry had were funnelled to the right location.

Thanks.

Wow thank you so very much - that fixed everything. I was so worried I had hurt my baby. If you're ever in Houston I'll buy you a round

I think a couple of people a few pages back said they were successful with doing it with a flash drive.
i think they were doing it with making a bootable cd instead.

I just purchased my sager 9880 will it come with the new fan firmware?
Yes, the new fan firmware will be on it. I just got my 9880 about 3 weeks ago and, the new firmware was already installed.

The new bios; however, was NOT installed. Just flashed that the other day.

I installed the new bios and FAN firmware, just to verify, the fan closest to the dvd drives is suppose to be running, right? That's the only one that is running , the one beside it is not doing anything, is this normal? I only feel one stream of air coming from the one closest to the dvd drive. thanks for any help!

I mean the fan on the back closest to the dvd player, is there only supposed to be one fan in the back blowing? Are the fans you guys talk about on the bottom of the notebook>
post #172 of 207
you did not instal the new fan firmware because it solves the "Stuck fan syndrome" and would allow both fans to spin.

if you did instal it correctly, then you can simply press fn+f2 to fire up the fans at full speed and that should resolve the stuck fan. then you can press fn+f2 again to go back to normal.

Hey people I've read this whole thread, but can't figure out if someone actually with an Alienware MJ12-7700 has tried this firmware update. Aw obviously don't (want) to recognise this problem. See 5648754th email to them : http://users.telenet.be/FYM/aw.htm

Hey,

I remember reading in the Alienware forum a while back when the fan bios was released that it does indeed work with the Alienware version. Same hardware, same manufacturer, so shouldn't be a problem. Also, I believe it's only a keyboard bios update, not a system bios update from what I've heard. Good luck.

Yep, here's the link:

Dojo check alienware forum. I have read that indeed alienware users are using the fan bios with success. They do have to deal with the SAGER splash screen at bootup though.
it's just a keyboard firmware and fan firmware update, not bios (unless you want to instal the new bios for the fan firmware, but not required) so there should not be any problems since it's the same hardware from the same manufacture.

how do i know if i have the H8 fan firmware?
If you press F2 and Fn the fans come on full blast
post #179 of 207

no full blast.

thanx

Doesn't bother me much, it's the same laptop anyway, and it operates the same as before. doesn't change how it functions either, that's all that counts.
