Prostar 5600 P (problem with crdw)
My Brother gave me his Prostar 5600 P which has the following problem: He broke and removed the built in dvd-rom and removed the mounting bracket as well.
He ordered a new cdrw from Prostar which slips into the same slot the Floppy, additional battery, etc. fits as well.
The laptop will not recognize the cdrw and when I go into bios there is no cd listed on the secondary master and I can't get it to let me change anything in the bios to recognize the cdrw.
Does anyone know if the problem is in removing the original cd and mounting bracket it prevents the laptop from recognizing the cdrw and why can't I get into changing the bios settings?
It says no changes can be made as a user and to contact the system manager or something .
Really puzzled by this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
