Conspiracy Blue has Arrived!!

Ok everyone here are some pics of my new 51M in Conspiracy Blue. I ended going with this color after originally ordering the silver and then receiving an email about 2 weeks ago saying the silver case was back ordered so I switched to blue. Ihavent done much with it except to get all of my work files on it and play a little Max Payne 2 (which runs really well). I just finished a 2hr phone call with AW Tech Support because the thing was locking up when booting. It ended up being a faulty sound driver . All in al I really like the blue, its a really glossy finish. The rubber grips are kinda cheesy because they're plastic.

These are the Specs
16.1 Screen
P4 3.2
1GB Ram
60gb HD
ATI 9600 Mobility Radeon
DVD-RW
WiFi A,B,G
...and all the normal jargin

and here are a couple picks of it

and this last one shows just how dark it is, the ones with the flash really make the color look lighter.

couple questions

first...i thought the radeons werent out yet. And is it a pro or just a radeon nine six K? I heard a debate on another thread on this. Also, do you have an abg card or minipci? And do these support dual drives and dual harddrives?

Yes it is the Radeon 9600, and I'm pretty sure its not the pro becasue it doesnt mention Pro anywhere in the documentation or device mgr. And it is a built in ABG. Dont know about dual drives.

TO be honest, my 5680 doesnt say pro either (stupid drivers). The proof is in the clocks. What do yours say?
AW admits that it's not the pro version, but the 9600Pro will be available next month... supposedly.

Hey, say what you want, but at least it's not the frigging NVIDIA card... even with the new drivers it's getting killed against it's ATI counterpart

i dont think i want to know what that bottle of car oil is doing there.

Okay

So does the aw have dual cd/dvd drives, and does it support dual hard drives? And does it support minipci for wireless? (I think it does) And true on the nvidia stuff...

Re: Okay

It does NOT have dual smartbays therefore, no dual CD drives (in my opinion, this is the one main flaw in the design of the chassis itself).

It CAN support dual HDs and even a RAID configuration, but in order to do so you need to remove the CD drive from the one bay and replace it with another HD.

Here's the catch, the HDs aren't offered by AW yet, and it defeats the purpose to have to remove your CD drive for such a thing... but that's just me.

well you can always go and buy a second hard drive from pctorque they basically use the same and you can get a external cdrom but that would be a hassle and cost too much money
post #11 of 20
exactly... and since the new chassis is from UniWill the parts aren't compatible anymore.

But if it were an older Area-51m, I'd definately be with you on that one
post #12 of 20
Can you post some benchmarks with the 9600?

Thanks!

The conspiracy blue looks nice better than it does on the website. LooKs Sparkly..
I love the greasy finger prints on the screen... Maybe from that oil?

in looking at the pic of the right side I was wondering what that propeller looking thing under the LCD is, I see some sort of lable but cant read it. It is not shown on any of the pics at the AW website

Sorry, I like the silver better myself. But it's nicer than puke, oops! I mean Cyborg Green.

That little propeller thing must be a knock out, it says TV In next to it, but I dont have TV In.
Originally they planned to have a tv tuner built into it, but for some reason it didn't go through, apparently some if not all the cases are still designed for it.
oh i just thought it was some sort of lock handle or something
