Woot! Official word on Asus Z70 REFRESH!! - Page 8

It all comes down to copying programs on the TV and saving them on the HDD. I don't think we will see tuners on laptops anytime soon since you can't even buy the cards legally anymore.

Unfortunately, you're right. It's amazing how much power Hollywood can wield. I still wish my HD Tivo allowed me to archive in HD.

Of course, you can still buy tuners from other countries, made from other countries.

But you can buy tuner cards for PC's. What's the difference??? I record my programs to my PC and burn them to DVD's.

Ahhh, the difference is High Definition. I'm not aware of any cards that are currently available for laptops that are HD. The ones for PC's are no longer legal/available. Maybe you have info that'll make happy folks out of some of us?

On a related note: Soon, the DVI connectors will be passe. More and more video gear is being churned out utilizing HDMI. Maybe the refreshed refresh will have HDMI?

Would anyone happen to know if this, or a comparable model, will be introduced on the European market? And if it will be, what will it be called? As it is, there is no mention of Z-series at least in Scandinavia...

You can check for the M6 series, which was the original model number. Or something very comparable- the V6 series.

Gotcha. I must've missed the part about the HD. Now that would be great!

Is this anything like it, then? The only M6 that I could find... I doubt it, 'cause this only has 64mb video card...

No it's not that, it's the same body though. That was the previous one, actually the Z70V isn't even on that Asus Website yet. They're very lazy on updating product. Their support is good though. You'll have to look for it on reseller websites like www.geared2play.com. That's where I got mine, They're in New York- you can ask if they ship internationally.

There is a thread that lists all the resellers in the USA (that we know of) and some in canada. Give it a look.

Yeah, I was going to refer him to that too, but he's in Scandinavia. Any vendors up there anybody?

I can't find anything on their web site. Maybe the best thing to do would be contact Asus Holland :

I haven't been able to get a response through e-mail from Holland, but I have now browsed the selection in Germany. Do these seem like the same computers as the Z70V (or refresh)?

(For the Americans out there - the prices shown in Europe already include the tax)

They look like variations on the Z70v, but with bluetooth. The Z70va (refresh model) has an ATI x700 video card.
