Wish there was a reply from Isntc -- reading back in this thread it looks like they sent in the batteries to Asus almost a month ago..

Ok well this poster seems to have ironed out his problem. It was all software related. Z71v is the most popular model for us by far and so far we only had this one issue with the dual batteries. So you guys feel free to pm him for more info but he seems to have dissapeared. There is a thread on notebookreview regarding whining noise while scrolling on the z70v. Anyone finds em in a similar situation please post.

The only battery whining noise I recall from battery was the one in which Rob resolved with the new bios 0208.

I use centrino hardware control

is it possible that becasue of undervolting and maybe dynamic switching, but mostly due to undevoltin this battery problem occurs.

sorry I have no idea if am wrong about cpu voltage being related somehow to battery.

just a thought.

I am in U.S. right now and sent my battery yesterday to california ASUS for replacement.

Just got a new battery and returned the faulty one. Will advise how this pans out, although it appears universally that the problems haven't been with out-of-box batteries and that it takes weeks to have this issue.

I got a new ac adapter AND new batteries then returned the old ones, it seems to work fine now, but who knows what will happen down the road, as we all know the problem doesnt always show up immediately.

Well, I was counting myself in the lucky group. I've had my z71v (Hypersonic MX6) for a few months and never had a battery problem untill a few days ago. I called Hypersonic Tech support and spoke to Alex, he called me back later in the afternoon to tell me that he spoke with Asus, they were aware of the Problem, and a fix should be available within the next few weeks.

I also have the main battery not recharging problem. After reading the posts that others were having the problem I e-mailed istnc who have me a phone number at ASUS and they gave me an RMA# to ship the battery back for free replacement....We'll see how the new one works.

My understanding is that a new battery wont fix the problem, many of the people who have replaced their battery have had the same problem with a second battery.

If that is the problem, it is one of two things. The power supply or the sensors on your laptop.

Just throwing my name into this hat.

Problems arose roughly 1 month ago.... Had plenty of full/near full drains of all the battery (s - 2 main and 1 OD) suddenly one day the charging light was on when i woke up, windows would report the total charge of the OD and a main was 100, but the main was still charging and said 98% or 99% and the OD ws only maybe 5% better than 12 hours earlier.

Initially i could mostly fix the problem by rebooting or removing and replacing the battery.... after a couple days removal and replacement didnt fix the problem, so i switched to my other main batt for day 2 day use. No problems for about 8 days then suddenly it developed the same problem.

I though i had it licked with one battery but the other day i ran off batteries after forgetting my ac adaptor, and both had big holes in the discharge cycle jumping from 40~50% -> 5% while i was using them.

Tried to calibrate one of the batteries and when i came back in the morning it was still in the charging phase, as might be expected.

Just last night i manually drained the battery (left it on in the bios till it dies) then charged it back up and thats where i am now.... both batteries stop at 69%
but say they are still charging forever

At this point the OD is the only properly functioning battery and i try to keep it out of the loop while any main batt is in to avoid spoiling it.

Here is hoping some reasonable solution arrives soon... cause this pisses me off.

Battery Meter Asus Z71v

just recently my battery meter is always charging even though it says 100%,,,,is something wrong with this?
yes. Unfortunately, it will get worse and the battery will only charge partway. See the Z71v battery problem thread for details.

Z71v owners: battery issue poll

For those members who own a Z71v and have had it for at least 2 months, how many have had the battery always "charging" yet never fully charged issue? I'm trying to figure out a percentage on this.
No problem (yet).

Main battery & media bay battery always installed. Occasionally used on batteries alone.
RMClock V1.4
Power4Gear never installed.
XP SP2

When i run on batteries the LT will shutdown abruptly when the MB battery gets to 0%, even tho the main battery is still fully charged. If i remove and reinstall the MB battery during use it will sometimes not do that. When the shutdown occurs the ONLY way to turn it back on is to plug it into the charger.
