talk to your reseller and they will tell you the exact instructions.

i wouldnt jump the gun just yet, people who have had there battery replaced worked fine for a bit and then the problem would reaccore, as of now no one knowes what exactly is causing it.

No problem here...

Just curious, those who have the problem, do you ever remove your battery at any given time more than once since you installed it in your laptop from purchase date, ever?

Another thing to consider:
1) Who has updated beyong WinXP SP1?
2) Does anyone have Win2000 with or without this problem?
3) How many of you that have this problem have updated/haven't to WinXP SP2?
4) How about further, small updates released by MicroSoft?
I ask this because some update in SP2 also causes a problem with the modular battery.

i got 2 batteries with my z71v... one of them got the charging issue after a couple of months while the other one continued to work fine... i didn't use any one battery significantly more than the other... sent the defective battery back and so far no further problems with the replacement

i doubt it has anything to do with windows sp2 or updates because otherwise both of my batteries would have problems

The battery on my Z71V developed charging problems after I had the system for 3weeks. Because of the amount of problems with batteries ASUS has authorized resellers cross-shipping on defective batteries units. So I sent in my defective battery and I’m awaiting the replacement to get to me here in Korea. The people at Powernotebooks.com who I bought my system from also stated the problem is known by ASUS and a fix is due in the near future.

Yea especially when u pay 1400+ for a laptop. Now days that isnt pocket change for most of us. Also shippings stuff back, and waiting for stuff to come back is a hassle to. ONe thing about laptops, they arnt like desktops where u can hop in a car and grab a new MB or whatever.

Could be, am almost tempted to format and run win2000 and see how it acts in there.

does your battery go up and down? because mine was tat 87 then 82 now 85...whats going on!? now i have battery wear of 5%...is there anyway to get rid of battery wear?
when u request a new battery do u send yours in first and then get a new one or get a new one and then send yours in?

i have 15% wear level, i got the laptop in may, I dont use it on batts that much, just @ school. Yesterday my meter in windows said my primary batt was 100% yet windows was giving me a low battery warning... and then it just shut down. I tired to start the laptop again it would not as if the battery was flat. I had to put it on the charger, when i went back into windows with the AC plugged in, windows again stated that the battery was @ 100%.
