Interresting Update-

i have 15% wear level, i got the laptop in may, I dont use it on batts that much, just @ school. Yesterday my meter in windows said my primary batt was 100% yet windows was giving me a low battery warning... and then it just shut down. I tired to start the laptop again it would not as if the battery was flat. I had to put it on the charger, when i went back into windows with the AC plugged in, windows again stated that the battery was @ 100%. SO i unplugged it, and immeditaly got a low battery warning. SO i restarted in the bios and uplugged it and ran it till it shutdown due to lack of battery. Also even if windows says the primaryy batt is @ 100% it still will not charge my 2nd battery. This is ticking me off cause i need the batteryies to be runnig fine for school, since where am @ there is no power outlets near by. Asus needs to get on the ball and fix this problem, since it looks like it is turning into an academic.

As i understand it, as of now asus is doing a "hot swap program" with the battery so once u send yours out the immeditaly send you a replacement. I just wish i was 100% certain it was the batteries and not the laptop. SInce Asus hasnt said anything offically. This is very sad since many more of us day by day are having this problem. They need to crack down and fine this problem and do a major recall to fix it. Laptops arnt cheap and many of us need laptops day to day for school, business or whatever. I personally rely on my laptop heavily to do my collage work, and without it I would be in grave trouble. As i stated in my previous post, i need my batteries working 100% THATS WHY I BOUGHT THIS LAPTOP. Battery life is very in improtant, up till now ive been extremly pleased with this laptop, but the lack of response from asus and other resellers about this issue and the cause of it is very frightening to me. And seeing people having the exact same problem with brandnew batteries that they just got to fix the problem is even worst. I fear that I may have to send my laptop in to get something replaced, and that means i wont have it for 2-3weeks (thats how long it took with sager, and i had to send my 5680 back twice). So hopefully soon we will hear word from Asus concerning this issue, because they have known about this for months and have yet to say what is really the cause of this battery problem.

Curious, Need Info

Those of you who are having battery problem and using CHC, in the CHC, what is the battery charge info?

For me, the charge rate is +22.00w to +24.00w while chargine and using the laptop to surf the internet.

As for me, I patch WinXP weekly, so I am on the latest patch. I am using BIOS 0208 with CHC 1.9 Beta 02.

I believe all of my drivers are on the most recent version, minus the video right now which I believe 78 series is out.

It is frustrating, I hope we hear good news soon.

Now that the Z70VA is released, hopefully they have some man power now to look into the z71v battery problem.

I still think it might be a sensor problem.

before i took it off it said i had a 11hrs of battery life avaible when my priamry was 100% & secondary was 83% (this was when i was having charging issues. While windows was saying I had only 2:45min left

Mucho Gracias Djembe_Rob. Much better to track with one thread.

I am still interested in everyone info on CHC. What is the charge rate on your CHC? Mine usually hoover around +22.00 -> +23/24.00 while surfing the net.

Recently mine's started to act up too. Battery charge light stays on all the time but battery claims to be 99 or 100% (no CHC, just the windows tools and whatever asus stuff got installed). Says 100% in the system tray, and 99% and charging if I double click the systray battery tool.

Thinking perhaps I should just take the battery out for now since I can run on AC pretty much all the time right now?
now my primary batt wont charge past 70%

I'm having this problem again, but whereas my last battery was assuredly messed up (it got up to 16% wear in 2 months), my current one still has 0% wear, so I'm doubtful that it's the battery at fault this time.

you may be on to something. At the "stuck point", which is around 67% full for me, the charge rate drops from 35.00-36.91w down to 0.165w
post #159 of 896
did u get a replacement battery and it messed up right away?
am not sure i have to get both batts replaced or just the primary.
