You need to talk with Asus directly. Forget about the resellers. They'll tell you just about anything if there is an expense involved. I know whereof I speak. I am a reseller, albeit an honest one with no axes to grind. I trust the Asus tech support fellow. He seems to be a straight shooter. He was a little cautious about the new battery showing up soon, but hopeful. (Asus Sales said one month.) Tech support's latest recommendation is to hold off on requesting a replacement if your battery is short term usable. .
BTW, I have seen some weird charging characteristics in a couple of my batteries. The spare which was reliably recharging for two months became stuck at 80% charge. I switched over to the replacement battery that I got a few weeks ago and which was now getting stuck at 90% charge. After about a week the replacement climbed up to 96% charge. Yesterday I pulled the replacement and put in the spare which was previously stuck at 90%. Overnight it went to 100% and the charging light is off.
OT...thanks for setting me straight on the disk nomenclature (PM, PS, SM, SS). I talked with Asus tech support yesterday about the inability to boot from a 2nd HD when a 1st HD is installed and they are going to ask the bios people to have a look. Apparently most people are using external (USB) storage for auxiliary booting and that works OK on the z71v.
