I have had no problems that caused me to send my 9300 back. I have had it since May. I still have no warranty issues.
I have a 4 year warranty.

I have no warranty and prolly won't need one if things keep working out the way they are now.

No problems. Why are you asking? Thousands of people buy Dell products with few having problems. Are you worried about buying from Dell?

Had XPS2 since April with no probs to report. In fact absolutely delighted with it. The build quality and appearance are outstanding.

1 month, 0 problems. With my past experience with dells, not expecting that to change.

Ok not really a subjective response since I would make a good case study on the reliability of my notebook, but I have had it 21 days and no issues, besides kicking myself in the bum not getting the 9cell bat.

Yeah a little... what would be the percentage on the people that would have to send it back because of problems..?

Other than kicking my gf out of bed so I could sleep with just my XPS ... good.

Impossible to tell. But one thing is that if you have a problem, they will fix it immediately, or at least try like hell. Also, they are big enough to simply just send you a new one if they think the problem will cause multiple problems or it's just a pain in the a$$ for you.

They will also send you a part with a pre addressed (pre paid) envelope for you to send the old one back in. That I guarantee a lot of companies will not do. They generally will make you send a stupid part back and when they have received it will only then send you the replacement part.

You may get a "donut" on the end of the line once in a while, in some place like India, but generally they're pretty knowledgeable, and the "Company Policies" are generally pretty "consumer friendly".

The onsite 1 year is I think $32 more than the depot guarantee. That way you're never sending anything by post.

I just received a 9300 with faulty pixels. Dell's notebooks are not known for their LCD screens.

I have had 2 dells before the 6000 and the xps2.
One 3000 and one 3200. they both have had to be returned for service 4 times each for cracking hinges. Dell replaced the lcd display 2 times on each notebook AFTER the warranty expired for free.

no problems with my 700m....7 months going strong along with various desktops, none of which have had problems whatsoever.....

of course, like any other company, there are going to be problems here and there...just because people have had problems with DELLS, especially on this forum, doesn't mean that other laptop manufacturer's are "problem free"...it might just be the luck of the draw...

I personally have not purchased any extended warranty plans for my systems..just figured i could save the extra $ on extra amenities for myself..so far so good

My office at work is fill with dell's laptops and desktops. i'm currently using the i8600 that we bought 1.3 year ago and it's still going strong. The screen still looks good without any dead pixel or light leakage.

Hmm. Do you guys think I should get an extra warranty? I only took the first year. This is my first long term laptop, and all my previous desktop systems have been custom built by myself, and fixed by myself so I never really had to worry about warranties. However, I know that laptops are a little different animal and it's not quite as easy to switch out a power supply or motherboard. Think I should get a 3 yr warranty, or at least a 2? I don't really have much previous experience with Dell laptops...

i have 3 dells in my house, all excellent computers.

I have had 9300 for a few months. I had to return the power pack only. According to PC Mag, Dell has one of the best reps in the biz. If there are probs with Dells, it occurs in the 1st year of ownership according to PC Mag user survey. So far that has been true for 2 of the 3 Dells I have owned.

If you have a credit card that will double the warranty, I'd go for a year warranty; thats what I did. Some ppl here also add the laptop to their home security instead of buying Dell's 3 year warranty. IMHO Dell charges alot for their warranty.
