Is the LG WUXGA screen better than the Samsung?

My Inspiron 9300 came with an LG WUXGA screen. I found this out from tech. support. Unfortunately, there's a big dead pixel which appears as red on a black screen and other colors when the screen is different. I'm getting it replaced with another LG screen. Tech support told me I could request the LG so I did. I thought I heard it was better than the Samsung.

Samsung > LG

I prefer the Samsung over the LG. Even though the sparkle thing was blown out of proportion, there really is less of this visible "sparkle" effect on it. However, I have much more light leakage and the nice little pinch, but at least it doesn't hurt my eyes like the LG did.

Its really a very subjective opinion because both screens have drawbacks. I have the LG and I love it!

Hmm, I have this same problem, can I get the screen replaced without warranty (I'm still within the first week of testing).

The eternal question ... better or not it depends of the eyes that look at, it's like the Beauty.
I've the LG and i love it, and another one with a Samsung love his screen.
Give what you want, not worry about if someone wants more an LG or Samsung, all two are very good

I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I was not trying to start an argument. I just wanted to get a feel for what people thought about both LCDs. I don't favor either company.

Google the specs and compare -- Compare what? they have the exact same specs. In fact, one of the Samsung panels (K9922) has a faster 20ms response time, though that one is rather rare.

Samsung gives more accurate colors. I prefer my Samsung to the LG i have seen.

i have both, and they are both nice(i change my mind almost everyday on which one i like better....), out of the box the samsung has way faded colors and the lg has way to much blue, after tweaking the lg seems to have better color, though the samsung is not far off and it is probable just because i have not found the right color correction settings yet. the samsung has alot of light leakage which mean that blacks are not really black unless i turn the screen down about 3 brightness lvls and then whites look a bit off, though on the plus for the samsung, i think it has a sharper picture.

it really just comes down to luck fo the draw and your persional opion.

Omg ...

Sparkles Sparkles Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarklles

what exactly are sparkles? maybe i got luck and did not get any on both my screens....

sparkles--I figure a side-effect of the polarizers used in LCD manufacturing. Can be partially mitigated by special coatings (think optics industry). Is more of a problem with the 9200's because of the pixel pitch, I'm thinking. The 9300 screens are 9200's with the gloss coats.
The Sony/Toshiba/Fujitsu panels (mainly sharp's right?) probably have better coatings to counteract the polarizers' side-effects.

Of course, this is just my opinion...

This subject has been beat into the ground. I personally like my LG (no sparkles). The light leakage has gone away with time.
