Amd2700+9800pro=crap????

Okay I just put together a desktop from old parts that i had and i got a big problem when playing games like FarCry, CSS. Heres what i got

Asus MOBO A7something
AMD 2700+ Athlon
768 MB 2700(333)
ATi 9800pro latest atidrivers
Creative labs gamer 2zs
WindowsXP home Fresh install with updates
seagate 80gb/8mb/7200/ata

Heres the problem i benchmark the system at 3dmark03@5760/ 3dmark05@2120 and 3dmark01@about20,000
but when i try playing games like farcry,css it bearly runs, css at 800x600 will only give me 40 during action and lag a bit too. same for farcry
My sony can play the games perfectly

Are you running with AA and AF on or something???

Everythings set to default so no aa/af. I was running at 800x600 low everything aa/af off,also reinstalled CSS still not good, however i will be picking up a new PSU to see if thats the problem. I currently have a foxconn 350watt PSU thats about 2 years old and my 12v reads at 11.2v and 5v reads at 4.3v. I unhooked all the crap I didn't need like the 2 cd/dvd drives, extraHDD, any case fans(left the panel open), soundcard, and one stick of 256ram and it really seem to boost the performance a bit. Can the power supply have such a big effect on performance?

If its not supplying the gpu correctly I guess it might give you real issues (the 9800pro needs a molex connector right??) - but you would see that in 3d Mark....

I'm really not sure about this though... Theres something really strange going on here.

I guess your HDD could... be going down the tube. But I wouldn't think that that would effect in game performance...

Nope not the HDD and yeah the 9800pro does have the extra molex. I was thinking the same thing-->5760 in 3dmark03 but crap in farcry & CSS??? Just ran HL2 also crap, but doom3 ran Ok( it ran it much better then my laptop and my laptop runs CSS,Farcry better then the desktop)????

Yeah that's really messed up. I have a 9800pro and a 2.4ghz P4 and I can run CSS at 1152x864 with everything at medium with no lag. I can crank it up to high but then the huge battles get messy.

You sure you don't have any other video drivers or anything on there?
