Note: Placing the page file on a diffrent hard drive on a diffrent controller will give you better performance. Putting the page file on a diffren't partition of the same hard drive won't do anything.

I ordered a Ferrari 4005 should get it soon. Should I convert one or a few of the drives to NFTS then?

oh yeah... duh... sorry had a nice brain slip there... I knew that... putting the page file on a different partition on the same drive actually DECREASES speed because it creates a longer access time due to the head having to move further. It might help against fragmentation a little though. Whatever. Enough computer architecture class. Yeah. Two partitions is always better than one. Keep them there. But convert at least one of them so you can get better features out of it. The speed increase with FAT32 is almost negligible (Sandra disk benchmarks). The only reason I kept some FAT32 was for dual-booting with Linux.

i heard converting to NTFS will stop the acer eRecovery software from working.
is that right?

Mine looks exactly like yours Rustican. I have a little more space available on the C drive though. Like 37 GB to your 21. Guess your using yours more

So just leave my system as it is?

Thanks

I have mine configured with the stock settings, and I've been loading all my programs onto the C: drive, and saving all my files to my D: drive. I have an external HD (160GB) which I used to put stuff on this 8104 with no problems. BUT, now when I go into my "Videos" folder on the D: drive, Windows Explorer wants to lock up. I copied the entire folder (probably around 5-10 GBs) from my Toshiba Satellite to my external HD, then to my Acer, and I never had this problem before. So do I have too large of files on there or something? What would cause this? Besides this, I have no other complaints about the 8104 at all (not a single one). This is the first computer I've ever used that actually set the settings in UT2k4 so high that the game cussed at me.

Any help is appreciated.

i changed my d drive to ntfs, now when i try to use the bundled backup software it doesn't wor, says d drive must be fat32. but when i try to change it back i find that the max size for fat32 drives in XP is 32GB, and i can't do it cos d is 45GB. weird, huh? so how can i make it fat32 again? or is there some better backup software out there?

I finally got fed-up with it and converted both to a single NTFS drive (I left the 3rd partition alone). Seems to be working better now.
