I would like to add AVG AntiVirus 7.5 Free Edition

I have to say it was the absolute best program I have ever downloaded, I kicked Norton's ass right off my hard drive!

Definately have to agree with the AVG posts. First thing I load up on a pc is AVG and update it. The other free apps I get are ccleaner, spybot, adaware se, zipgenius, firefox, free download manager, real player alternative, and quicktime alternative. Those are my must have apps whenever I do a new install or a reinstall.

Naomi.

Nice little internet filtering program. Not as fancy or feature packed as the commercial solutions but it does a pretty good job.

Automatically closes navigation and chat programs when questionable content is being browsed. Keep the password safe because that's the only way to remove or deactivate it.

Edit: Fixed comment.

I have to vote for Ubuntu Linux. It is an easy to use Linux distro and is getting close to the quality of the OS X.

convert to PDF

i have for long time used FreePDF

1) http://freepdf-xp.en.softonic.com/

as a brilliant PDF converter. But recently discovered, tested and used another alternative - doPDF

2) http://www.dopdf.com/

the later had a smaller footprint and did not require extra installation of GhostScript

cheers ...
