My Dell Horror Story - Page 2

Yeah, it's not the delivery service's responsibility to ensure the authentification of who receives the item. The matter of fact is that someone receives the item at the address. Otherwise, you'd have random customers saying their laptop is stolen when they're hiding inside a small chest in their basement. If this was the case, I'd never receive my item unless I was off on a given day and intentionally waited for an item to arrive on time.

Ok. I would like to start out by saying I did not appreciate Richard Carver's remark about them seeing my porn. I don't have porn on my computer, and even if I did, It wasn't appropriate for you to even make a comment like that.

Now To My Update. . After DHL/Dell/And I did a three-way confrence call something DHL said caught my attention. She said they had been going to the appartment to pick it up, but delivered it to the appartment office. So I called the appartment office last night and I asked about it. Suprisingly I said a R. Cannon signed for it, and she told me. . that I was speaking to Kim Cannon and that DHL most have read her signature wrong. Well, I remembed Kim (just from short random conversation) from when I lived there, and now she wouldn't let anything happen to my computer. She said she didn't remember signing for it, but would go and see if anyone delivered it to the appartment and such- and that she would call me back. She never called me back so this morning I called her. She told me that at my old appartment an old lady was living there and she had my computer. I'm guessing she didn't hear when DHL knocked or something. Well, Kim told me though that my computer was now safe in the app. office and waiting for DHL to come pick it up. I guess apparently even though they were suppose to DHL failed to try to pick it up on Monday. I called Dell today and called the voicemail of the lady I talked to yesterday (who is just wonderful!) and she did another confrence call with dhl, dell, and I and we discussed what needed to be done. So we got a pick up and redelivery scheduled for tomorrow and I know for a fact this time they will have a package to pick up. The Dell lady is supposed to call me Thursday (she is off on Wed) and update me on whats going on.

I am so glad I finally have this whole thing resolved, and I just hope and pray that nothing else happens between now and when it arrives at my door. I thought about it the last 2 or so days and I want my old compuer back, not a new one. I have over 1652 ('ya, iPod freak) songs on my computer, all the files for my website and just everything on that computer, I couldn't afford to lose that stuff.

I'm not overly concerned about getting compensation for all the trouble I've went though. I do think coupons would be nice, because I'm now officially looking for a nice digital camera and printer, and saving some money is never a bad thing! Oh, And Gregmatters. . you talked about XXX Number of days. . I will have went without my laptop for an official whole month as of tomorrow. Just thought I'd add that.

LOL! Lighten up dude. There are those who think discussing the best way to rip off Dell is inappropriate as well. I just assumed the type of person who would do that sort of thing might possibly have a porn collection.

Ok. OMG I Need Help! I got my computer back today, I was so excited. I go and turn it on. . first screen I get was a screen with white background black text and a grey background behind the text. It said to enter my primary or admin. password. So I entered my old Windows password a few times at no sucess. So then I was rather flustrated and called a Dell tech. He informed me it was a BIOS password that Dell must have put on there. We tried 3 passwords (random numbers, couldn't figure if it was for something or not- doubt it) and then he said my motherboard most be damaged and I had to send it back for repair. I told him that was not a option and then after him telling me it was my only option I asked to talk to his supervisor. Now. . I doubt it was really his supervisor but I did get to talk to a different person. I asked him if he could send someone or me take it to a local dell authorized repairmen and he said no. . the contract says (damn contracts) it is to be sent to the depot. So I finally just said ok but I wanted to try those 3 passwords one more time, he had me talk to the other guy again and we tried them at no sucess. Then we arranged for my laptop to go back to dell. I then asked a few questions about 'the outlet', why this isn't wasn't found before it left, and such. Then I asked about compensation for all I've went through. He forwarded me to a Costumer Service Agent and they arranged for me to get a $35 coupon code. It's not crap. . but I don't give a shirt. I'm never buying anything from Dell again anyways.

But my problem is. . there has to be a way to reset my BIOS or reset the password or something. . I have a feeling they just don't know the password and the motherboard is fine. Can anyone help. . please?
